Great place to eat, have drinks, hang out. Sometimes they have music, great outdoor seating area. Lots of atmosphere and great food.

The only thing to fault this trip on was lack of parking. I almost gave up and went somewhere else but I'm so glad I didn't. Fried green tomato stack with goat cheese was an amazing flavor profile. Hands down one of the best appetizers I have eaten anywhere. I also had shrimp and grits for my entree and it... More

Southern Roots is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of downtown Jamestown, with great food and bar. The only complaint I have is that the noise level is very high because of the acoustics in the restaurant. If you are looking for a quiet place for dinner, Southern Roots is not the place.

We came here this past weekend with some friends that live in the area. The food was really good - I had the Seafood Risotto - which was quite good. Everybody else was very pleased with their food as well. It was really loud in the restaurant, We sat at a table next to the bar and it was very... More

This was our 4th visit to Southern Roots this year and our 4th great dinner experience there. The food selection and quality is great as well as the service. This restaurant offers both southern favorites and new exciting dishes. The Shrimp and Grits, which I had last night, is the best! We also love their spaghetti squash as a delicious... More

We went here on a Thursday night for our wedding anniversary. Even though it was a weeknight, it was pretty crowded, but we didn't have to wait for a seat. I'm sure if we'd gone on Friday instead, there would have been a wait. We had the excellent fried oyster appetizer that was large enough for 3-4 people to share.... More

We had a great experience at Southern Roots, there was a 40 minute wait for a table but the bar staff eas very accommodating. Our server was friendly and knew the menu well. The food arrived in a timely manner and was well presented. Everyone enjoyed the food. The only drawback we had is the restaurant is very loud, they... More

The restaurant is so cute. And people talking loudly, I must admit. I guess the food forced you into having a good time? Anyway, the service was quick and pleasant. Now about the gumbo. They serve it on a bed of red beans and rice. Interesting. The taste was spicy but not hot spicy. No bitter pepper taste either. Just... More

We stopped in one evening for just a cocktail. The bartender was excellent and the atmosphere was really nice. Relaxed and kind of shabby chic. I took a look at the menu and the food as it was being served and decided I will go back for dinner and drinks soon.
