...with superb food, friendly service, attractive presentation, personal warmth, and very stylish decor! Another family visit to Hendersonville means another delicious meal at Umi. We've visited several times over the years and the excellent food is a highlight of our visits. Mary, who manages the place (I think), is a gem: warm, capable, caring, and authentic. My elderly mother lives... More

Umi and Sora (in Pisgah Forest/Brevard) are owned by the same family and offer the best sushi in this area. Thai curry also a nice option. Both Uni and Sora are nicely decorated; Brevard's Sora is quieter and more relaxing, but the food is consistent. Free crab salad is usually offered if you sit at the sushi bar. Salad dressing... While visiting Hendersonville, my aunt took me to this wonderful sushi restaurant - it was outstanding and I will definately make this place a 'must do' anytime in the area. I had the veggie sushi - I chose the California roll and the Sweet Potato roll - they were both very tasty and delicious. I LOVED the Sweet Potato roll... More

We go to umi any time we are in town, and now have moved back and go twice a week. As much as we have traveled, this is still the best sushi and sashimi ever.

Imagine finding outstanding sushi in a relatively small community that will surpass many sushi restaurants in New York, San Fran.,L.A. Some purists who travel to Japan might differ, however, Umi not only has terrific food, wonderfully presented, but a nice atmosphere and good service, all at reasonable prices. There are always some disagreeable people no one can please and we... More

We were happy to discover Umi, as we love Japanese but are very particular about quality sushi. Umi is a surprising find. The atmosphere is also quite good as well, and the service attentive. Will be making this a regular stop!

Friends made reservations for this restaurant for dinner following a play at Flat Rock. It was an excellent choice. I had a platter of assorted sashimi and sushi. All were excellent and the presentation matched the food. The rest of the party of eight had a wide variety of items from the menu and all were more than pleased. Service... More

The service, food quality and atmosphere were all top quality. Slightly expensive but worth every penny.

Whenever I am visiting the Hendersonville/Asheville area I always eat at this restaurant at least once. The food is amazing and they always have interesting rolls to try. I have also had some of their non sushi dishes, including curry, and they are all wonderful.

Dining at Umi before 3pm is a value that is nearly impossible to beat in the region. Two can have a sensational meal for under $30 bucks with the service, presentation and atmosphere that is double that amount anywhere else. The key is before three. Not that I would hesitate to go there during regular dinner hours.
