We always visit this restaurant when we are in Hendersonville. Everything I have tried at Umi has been wonderful. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great find in a small town. Sushi was fresh and rolls were tasty. Service was really good too. Try the superman roll.

The sushi is so beautiful and tasty, you can tell they are dedicated to good quality. The service was good and attentive. The price is high, but it's worth it.

I'm not sure what I expected on my first visit to this well regarded local Japanese restaurant but I didn't get it. On the plus side, it was clean and well appointed, service was attentive if a little inconsistent, and the menu offered appetizing sounding choices. On the negative, tiny scallops that were bland and poorly presented, 5 or more... More

So, so disappointed. Just can't imagine why this restaurant is considered one of the top 5 restaurants in Hendersonville. Our tuna rolls and salmon rolls were good. Everything else was not. The first-course salad was basic lettuce with some kind of creamy dressing--certainly like nothing Japanese except for a slight ginger taste. In Japan koi eat lettuce, but I have... More

We recently returned to Umi, a wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant in Hendersonville, NC. Umi is on Main Street and brings a totally yummy Asian experience to the charming Southern city of Hendersonville, NC. This was our second time dining at Umi (We would go more often, except for the fact that we live in Florida). Wish they would bring Umi... More

The waitress told us the owners of this restaurant aren't Japanese. Neither are most of the patrons. But you wouldn't guess it from the food. The best Japanese cuisine I've tasted in either Carolina, even around my hometown where there is a sizable community of folk who know how. The generous servings are almost overlarge. A dinner Bento is a... More

This is my third dinner at Umi, and it's safe to say this is the best sushi around. I no longer eat sushi here in Atlanta, as Umi in Hendersonville, NC can't be beat. Whenever I get the urge for sushi, I will make the three hour trip to North Carolina. The Superman, Godzilla and Geisha roll are amazing. Umi... More
