Can't decide where all of the hype is coming from. Looks like a nice grocery store bakery, but certainly nothing spectacular. Compare to Well-Bred in Weaverville and you'll see what I'm talking about !

As soon as I walked in the door, the delicious aroma took me back to when I was little, and my mom would take me into the local bakery for a goodie. The cream horn, black and white cookie, muffin, and tea cookies were terrific. I got a variety and tried over a couple of days. When in Hendersonville, NC,... More

We're from NY and have been to a lot of bakeries in large and small cities. This is a special place and is obviously a local favorite. They make cannolis and other exotic desserts. Plenty of cakes, pies, etc. and you can buy little items under a dollar and larger items over $25. Lots of flexibility here. Wait staff is... More

The sweet stuff is to die for. There is nothing better than what they make here in their local bakery-from "scratch". Nothing you can want or imagine that is not found here. But try their breads and rolls too. We highly recommend the salt rising bread. Hard to find except in central KY. We buy a few loaves and freeze... More

My friend and I shared a very nice dinner across Main St. at Mezzaluna, then felt the need for a tiny bit of sweetness for dessert. So we walked into McFarlan Bakery and felt as if we'd stepped into a long-ago place and time. The mingled fragrances were absolutely heavenly--and so comforting. We ordered a cake doughnut, a molasses cookie,... More

I've visited McFarland's bakery since 1981. Their quality has never waivered! Their doughnuts are made from real ingredients not a bunch of shortening fried up! Also their pastries, cookies and breads will keep you coming back for more. Visit them soon and you will discover what you have been missing!!

I have been to McFarland's many times and have not found anything that tasted bad. I have to avoid going there to not become the next Buddah! Seriously, they have a wide variety of confections and all are good. We enjoyed the cake and cookies. The selection keeps us coming back much too often. They have a pecan pie that... More
