I first reviewed Harbor House in August 2012, but I had to post an update based on new information. Passing by recently (in February) I noticed "scallops" listed on the Harbor House sign. This Market isn't open much in the winter, so I had to check it out. Turns out Vicky was prepping a bunch of fresh sea scallops for... More

We can’t say enough about the awesome food and hospitality at Harbor House! This is off season at Hatteras. We drove down from Kitty Hawk and arrived around 11:45 hoping to get some lunch before visiting the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. We tried restaurant after restaurant and nothing was open. Harbor House was not open. But the owner’s son... More

This is worth the hour's drive from Nags Head (where we were staying) to meet Vicki and have her serve up her seafood wonders. Fresh, fresh, fresh. We got steamed shrimp (plain with just salt and cocktail sauce to dip it), crab bisque, and black drum (which had not been available most of the summer) and took it back to... More

First of all, Harbor House is not a restaurant, nor does it pretend to be. It's a seafood market, just like it says. But even if you're staying 12 miles away and don't want your lovingly prepared seafood to get cold on the way home, there are picnic table across the street at the marina where no one will complain... My husband picked up shrimp and clams from Harbor House Seafood Market for our Frogmore Stew. Both were very fresh. He said the staff was very helpful with his selection! Everyone loved the Frogmore Stew/Seafood Boil. It was a great evening on the beach!

This is our fifth one week stay on Hatteras Island in September and our third in Hatteras Village. Last year we discovered Vicki’s Harbor House Seafood Market in Hatteras Village and have visited it each and every day during our last two years. It’s a family affair; her husband and son are both fishermen. We live in the Midwest so... More

Odd this is rated #1 in TA as a resturant. It's a very small fish market who is willing to steam shrimp to go. As long as we stopped in, we did order steamed shrimp to go to eat at a picnic table by the pier. Agree shrimp were excellent but rated as number 1 is misleading.

Hi, Thank you for stopping in and trying some of our steamed shrimp! I am very glad that you liked them, North Carolina has great seafood! I am sorry that you are upset that we are listed as a restaurant on Trip Advisor. We are a seafood market that can cook up items to go. I am sorry that you... More

Vicky's, Linda's, whatever you want to call this place...it is wonderful. I can't recall ever getting fish from a market that actually catches the fish on its own family run boat ..and by gigging! New term for me. Vicky treated me like a local, making my week in Hatteras that much more special. Smoked fish spread was fabulous as was... More

Amazing quality of fish, seafood. Vicky, the owner, is also a great cook, love her crab dip, seafood enchiladas, tuna salad, shrimp salad. She steams shrimp to the perfection. Best seafood market!!
