Dine in or take out. Wilber's is one of the top go-to places for bar-b-q in eastern NC with a long history of quality "Q". Wilber's is often written about in all of the "Best Bar B Q" articles featured in magazines and books.

You go here for their pork barbecue which is very, very good. We have tried several other barbecue restaurants over 40+ years and still favor Wilbur's as our top choice. That being said, Wilber's décor has not changed since the 70's. But it's Ok and fairly clean. I wish I could say the same about their restrooms which could really... More

They do family style (bowls of food from a pre-set menu) which is good, but too much for family of five only. Barbecue chicken, fried chicken and pulled pork all really good. Potato salad and Cole slaw both nice accompaniments. Hush puppies are great. Brunswick stew is weak link. Tasted like canned soup. Staff is very friendly and did well... More

A friend told me about this place and ever since then we have always stopped here when passing through Goldsboro. Ask for some chicken gravy! Dip your hush puppies or fries in it. Yummmmm!!

Since most visitors go to Wilbur's for the BBQ, they should be fine generally (though watch the health ratings, and I say this with all NC restaurants). Wilbur's goes up/downnnn. The locals have become less enamored over the years because the quality of the food has just gone DOWN. The last time I was there, I ordered fish, chicken and... More

This is the absolute best barbeque you can get, period. Hush puppies are awesome, service is great, it's a country classic setting. You can't do better. Unless you have my home made, 'que, that is, and I only cook for family!

Walk behind this famous BBQ place and you will see why this place is famous. A tender is carefully burning piles of woods to produce the the slow roasting coals to cook the pork until it has a unique taste and extremely tender. YUM!

We stopped here on day 1 of our eastern NC 'Cue Crawl. We had to see and taste for ourselves if this place lived up to its reputation. It did! Pine-paneling, checkered tablecloths, friendly folks, lots of seating, quick service, and affordable. The food? Excellent! The white slaw was the best of the trip, the barbecue was the traditional tangy... More

Stopped on the way home from the beach. The barbecue and slaw was good. (I do prefer tomato-based bbq sauce, but I heard that eastern Carolina has more vinegar-based sauces, so it was probably to be expected.) The hush puppies were amazing. Service was a little slow, but they were also really busy (with after-church crowd). Enjoyed it, and would... More

When I was on active duty in the USAF during the '70s, I went to Wilber's anytime I happened to fly into Seymour- Johnson AFB. My wife was stationed at Seymour-Johnson AFB during the first Gulf War, both of us made special stops at Wilber's. I have not been back since because it is out of the way when we... More
