Solid vinegar style BBQ

If you are looking to try some North Carolina style BBQ with the vinegar sauce, this is a great place to go. It's always full of people, the staff are very friendly, and the bbq and sides are very good (hard to find places that do both things well). We had the pork platter and the liver/gizzards... read more

Stopped at Wilbers on the way home from the beach. Lots of food on the plate. Some of the best bbq I have ever had. Very friendly staff.

I will start out by saying that I am a fan of all BBQ period. I am partial to Eastern Carolina style BBQ. There has been lots of praise about the Goldsboro area BBQ joints. I have spent 20 years in NC and have never visited Wilbur's, until today. Figured that the enjoyable motorcycle ride would be worth the trip... More

This restaurant was pretty good, but probably not worth the extra hour of travel while heading south on 95. I liked that the crowd seemed like locals and the waitress called me "sweetheart," but the vinegar-based bbq was nothing special.

First, the barbecue was good. Well seasoned but a little dry. The sauce was a little too much vinegar for me. (I know this is eastern style but it was almost straight up vinegar.) Next, the Brunswick stew was a liquidy mess. Flavorless and almost no chicken. More like potato soup. The slaw and potato salad were average. Very good... More

Wilber's has gone done in quality a lot in the last 2-3 years. My wife and I ate there today and the quality of the food was fair at best. Potato salad was bad. The barbeque was old and the chicken was luke warm and had been cooked awhile. Service was just fair also. It will be a long time... More

Love the chopped BBQ they sell there! Pretty good food and the sweet tea was great. Awesome taste! I would go back.

Actually got some take out that a friend brought my ailing brother. I live near one of NC's most famous 'que joints, and I tell you, the 'que from Wilber's was every bit as good if not better. I thought it had a great "smoky" taste that I don't get from many. We used to eat at Wilber's on the... More

Was planning on going to another restaurant but it was closed for remolding. So decided to give this restaurant a try. There was a line awaiting take out. You seat yourself. Very casual style. Staff friendly and attentive. Menu and prices in line with others in area. I had fried chicken as I am not a pork bar b q... More

Wilber's has been a Goldsboro favorite for many years now but I think they have become complacent? The quality of food has gone downhill over the last few years. I remember as a kid waiting in line for hours just to get a seat at this restaurant but now there is hardly anyone there at all? My how times change!
