Eastern NC BBQ at it's Best!!!

Wilber's has been a Goldsboro favorite for many years now but I think they have become complacent? The quality of food has gone downhill over the last few years. I remember as a kid waiting in line for hours just to get a seat at this restaurant but now there is hardly anyone there at all? My... read more

Been around for a long time. Consistent in quality and friendly service. Favorite of the beach goers.

Not bad for eastern Carolina vinigar flavor BBQ. Pig and chicken were tender and flavorful , but I tend to judge small cafes by the banana pudding which was small and lacked any rich flavor. Disappointing end to a good pig and chicken platter.

I should start this review by stating, for the record, that I prefer Western NC style. But that being said, this was good Q. The pork was cooked to perfection, as was the chicken. The hush puppies were delicious, and the slaw was definitely not a bulk purchased item. This place had an old, hometown atmosphere. It reminded me of... More

Locals rave about this place but, quite frankly, I don't understand why! The pork is dry and fatty. The coleslaw and potato salad taste like they come from a grocery store. The only parts of the meal worth eating are the baked chicken and hush puppies.

Let me start this review off by saying I am not a huge fan of Carolina style BBQ. I stopped here with my wife and son on the way to visit relatives. I ordered the combination plate with BBQ pork and fried chicken. The pork was good, like I said, not a huge Carolina BBQ fan. The chicken was pretty... More

It was worth the drive from Raleigh for this BBQ gem!!! By far the best Carolina BBQ I have ever had, and pecan pie... The cole slaw was creamy with a vinegary hint, and the pork was perfect! Service was friendly and attentive. Thankfully we left just as the after church rush was starting!

I was out with friends and we decided to try this place out for dinner. We were not disappointed. I had the fried chicken and BBQ. It was flavorful and not a bite was left on my plate. The service was also great. If you love BBQ chicken, fried chicken, BBQ pork, and other southern staples then this is the place... More

My friend from NC said that NC BBQ is synonymous with pork. This part of the state is known for pork production. I prefer BBQ chicken or beef. I noticed Wilber's has a NC restaurant rating at the time of 93.5. In discussing ratings with a restaurant owner elsewhere, I understand that the ratings are often subjective with little reasoning... The service was fine. The prices were fine. The atmosphere was just what I was expecting. The sweet tea and hush puppies were outstanding. But the BBQ was just okay. Living in NC I have had so much amazing BBQ that I don't care to eat just okay BBQ. There was nothing wrong with it, it wasn't bad, and if... More
