One of the Classic Eastern NC BBQ Joints

Wilber's is an institution and Classic NC BBQ Joint. Stopped by Sunday afternoon about 2:00 on the way further east and got a little fix of Eastern Style NC BBQ. Vinegar and pepper BBQ sauce and cole slaw rather than Lexington Style BBQ slaw (red). Good potato salad and sweeeeet tea! Always... read more

Tasty simple BBQ, NC style. I usually get the BBQ plate, I love the coleslaw and potato salad. Simple decor and quick polite service, worth a visit.

I took my mom here when she was visiting to give her some authentic NC bbq and Wilber's did not disappoint! It is classic NC vinegar bbq and the sides are delicious. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly! Overall a great family place

We were in town for one evening and selected Wilber's. The barbecue was very good; although it was not like anything I expected the meal was delicious with a smoky, tangy taste to the seasoning in the meat. When I say not like I expected, it was because there was no tomato-paste base to the barbecue flavoring or sauce. In... More

North Carolina Vinegar Based Barbeque is worth a drive from Raleigh to a first class Q establishment that has mastered this regional specialty. The Pork and Cole Slaw and Potato Salad alone are worth the trip. Add good fried chicken and corn on the cob and you have a southern feast. Sweet or unsweetened ice tea, enough said. Top this... I've visited three BBQ joints in the past two days. Of the three, I would say Wilber's tied for second (with Hursey's of Burlington). I ordered the BBQ plate with green beans and cole slaw. The BBQ seemed greasy and a little tough. Perhaps not the freshest and appeared to have been refreshed with sauce. Couldn't taste hardly any smoke... More

We were traveling through the area and wanted to try some local BBQ. Being Yankees, we did not know that eastern nc BBQ has kind of a vinegar flavor which we never had before. A lot of people might like it but it just wasn't for us. We also had some fried chicken that was excellent. Great flavor and very... More

I usually just have the barbecue tray, which is sufficient for me, just barbecue and some slaw. I recently tried the chicken livers and was impressed.

Three friends and I visited North Carolina from New York. We wanted an authentic NC BBQ restaurant. Everyone recommended Wilber's! We absolutely loved the family-style dishes. We basically ordered one of every dish and ate until we were exhausted. My favorite dishes were the fried chicken and the mashed potatoes. The atmosphere is so relaxed and fun. The servers were...
