I usually get Black's BBQ (another BBQ restaurant in town), however, they were closed for vacation this past week. My grandma and I wanted BBQ so she made the suggestion of RO's. I am glad we came, she used to come here as a teenager in the 50's-60's. She says it's the same as it has always been. The minced... More

How anyone can love this place is beyond comprehension. Again it must be nostalgia, it certainly has nothing to do with the slop they call food, or the rudeness they call customer service. No, I do not know their menu by heart (thank goodness). That is no reason to be rude and condescending. My first experience here was nothing less... More

Stopped here on a business trip on the basis of many good reviews on Trip Advisor. Big mistake! The "minced" pork is very bland and the pink colored slaw, which isn't really slaw, just tastes weird. The barbeque sauce is a generic brand in small plastic tubs, usually reserved for jelly or margarine. Awful stuff. Drive on.

There Slaw is awesome, it's great on chips, chicken, or just a plain ole slaw sandwich! I can not manage without a tub in the fridge! You can buy the slaw in local grocery stores or at the restaurant. The restaurant by the way is a local landmark too, it's been around since the 50's and is as good as... More

Nothing is quite like RO's BBQ Sandwich - BECAUSE it's all about the BBQ Slaw!! Yes, the slaw is redish and it has a little bit of a bite but it is the magic that makes RO's great! Don't care for pork - then grab a hamburger with BBQ slaw - it's to die for and they still use a... More

Living in Gastonia, this is the best barbecue to eat. You get your money's worth without question. However, this is not in m experience traditional eastern NC barbecue. The slaw, while good, is diffidently different.

If you are looking for atmosphere or traditional barbecue, go someplace else. RO's is in a class by itself. The barbecue is good, but not like traditional eastern NC barbecue. The slaw is phenomenal! I just order a Slaw Sandwich many times. The hamburgers are great, especially "all the way with slaw." We can't go to Gastonia without visiting RO's.... More

I had heard great things about this place. Obviously from a book of fiction. Their "slaw" must have had the ingredients shipped in a truck also carrying cabbage. That is the closest it came to cabbage. It reminded me more of rancid thousand island dressing without the islands. Never have I tasted something so horrible. Their barbecue has never been... More

RO's is not your standard pork, slow cooked over hardwood (preferably hickory) coals. The meat is more like roast pork. But when it's combined with RO's famous slaw....WOW! What unique flavor. Their slaw is made with a pimento cheese base and you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. I grew up in the area and... More
