Takes you back...........

If you are from this area, Black's is a familiar place to be. The building, the "basic" approach to inside seating, the people. Their is another place similar to Blacks (RO's), but RO's seems to fall off the wagon when they decided to start marketing "Dipping sauce". It seems the barbecue... read more

While this is a S Gastonia icon, the food is blah. Regular frozen crinkle fries which are sometimes crispy and sometimes soft. Way too much mayo is put on sandwiches. Oozes out the side making for very messy meal. Much better BBQ cN be found at other local restaraunts. The car hops are the best part. They are always polite,... More

This place has been around a long time. I grew up eating here, when in High school I always enjoyed stopping by at least 1 or 2 times a week and grabbing some food on the way home. It is always a toss up between the sliced bbq and the club sandwich, most of the time I stick to the... More

Black's is a Gastonia institution. BBQ in NC comes down to preference, and this is different than most places. The minced pork sandwich I had was terrific, and my wife enjoyed her hamburger. The service is great. Order inside, or sit in your car and let them serve you there. Beware! It's a CASH ONLY establishment.

I love Black's Barbecue. The Liver mush and egg on a bun its awesome. I don't know what they do to that sandwich but it is awesome. The Slaw Burger as it is called I love them. Its just BBQ Slaw on a toasted bun. If your ever in South Gastonia area you should definitely try it out! There prices... More

Blacks is by far the best in Gaston County. It isright up there with Alston on Grover in Shelby. Love the taste and quick curbside service.

I've heard and now read the reviews about how great this place is but I left disappointed. Consistency of meat is like toothpaste. Little if any smoke on the meat. Virtually no spiciness. Then they put the sandwich and toast/press the sandwich? This isn't either nc style, SC style or any of the other bbq styles I've ever tried. No... More

For local flavor and traditional Gastonia style bbq slaw you can't beat Black's BBQ. They have the best sliced pork sandwich anywhere, and the fries and onion rings are always hot and delicious! One of the few places that still have car hops that will bring your food out so you can eat in the car! Don't be fooled by... More

Love it, Love it, Love it. There is nothing like Black's anywhere but Black's. I used to live in a duplex in the historic district and my neighbors in the other apt were a sweet couple, a little older than I. (A lot like having parents.) I knew that Black's was their favorite place, so I would meet my neighbor... More

Again, Black's BBQ is a family owned business and has been around for over 60 years! Food is out of this world. Best BBQ around and please try the bbq slaw! Also, have hamburgers, etc...but my favorite is the bbq. Don't miss out on a local secret!
