Great food, interesting atmosphere

The menu is varied and the portions are just right. While the dining room is pretty basic, there are a lot of antiques and interesting decorations to look at while you eat. Convenient location just outside of town.

If you want a great Philly steak sandwich then you have found it at the Hungry Bear. This place serves up great food. My wife and I have never been disappointed with the food or service and you won't be either.

The good: we had a very friendly, helpful waitress. Most of the rest of our experience (except for the enjoyment we had with being together) was mediocre. The decor seemed slapdash; some of the decorative items were interesting, but the overall effect did not seem well put together in a consistent pleasing theme. The "ambience" was almost non-existent. The food... More

My sister and I went here on the recommendation of a store clerk in town. I had the Philly Cheese steak and she had a wrap. Both were good, but not great. The meat in the cheese steak was very good and portions were good size. Just not a lot of flavor. Not sure what was missing. Perhaps some of... More

We ordered our food at 5:50pm, and we did not recieve it until forty give minutes later. Very unhappy, no one explained why it took so long. The waitress just kept telling us, "your food is almost ready".

Excellent hospitality! We had Philly cheesesteak, French Dip and Turkey wrap. All were good. They were short a cook so didnt come out at the same time and they were very apologetic.

We were in the area for a concert and wanted to hang about a bit on Sunday morning and the restaurant we had originally planned to breakfast at was closed, so Hungry Bear was next on our list. We are so glad the other restaurant was closed, because this was truly a wonderful breakfast. The food was top notch. The... More

My husband had the original philly, and I had the mesquite chicken, both were great. The potato salad was not good nor were the French fries, definitely stated like something out of a frozen bag. The staff was friendly and the service was good. Clean. Overall good

Having never been to Franklin before we asked for suggestions on where to eat a quick lunch, not in the middle of town. I am so glad we were sent to The Hungry Bear. The atmosphere is down home mountains. But don't let that fool you. The service is friendly, not the fastest but worth the wait as everything is... More
