Another of our favorite places to eat when visiting EI. Great food and drinks, authentic Mexican food, this ain't Taco Bell folks!

Great margaritas, very good food, and very good service. One of our favorite places in this area. Chicken and shrimp in a queso sauce with rice.

El zarape was a decent dining establishment. We ended up getting fajitas and they turned out pretty good. The atmosphere was good and we had a great waiter. The hostess weren't the greatest. Overall it was an average experience.

My family and friends went to El Zarape for dinner. The waiter asked how many in our party, then grabbed some menus and started walking towards the dining room without saying a word. Later he came back with an attitude saying "didn't you see me walking to your table"? My wife had to hold me back since I was about... More

Horchata was the best I have ever had. I thought the dinner combos should include at least beans or rice, but the food was very good.

Actually we reviewed this under Atlantic Beach {"Cliff-diving"] but this is our "home" location; it is all one small chain. Great place for many years but this year (2014) a disaster.

We stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with the great authentic food choices. I had Classic Mexican tacos de lengua, beef tongue which has been braised with garlic and onions. Very delicious, would reminder you of pot roast.

I moved to EI last September and have been a regular El Zarape patron ever since...I cannot overemphasize how fantastic this restaurant is...the service is impeccable, the food is to die for, and the atmosphere is laid-back and friendly. In 9 months I have had to wait only once to be seated. You will NOT be disappointed!!!

Two years ago we built a house in Emerald Isle, NC. Love this little town, but restaurants are lacking. El Zarape is one of the bright spots. Our family eats there all the time. The food is good and consistent and the margaritas are wonderful. If you have a craving for Mexican, it is the place to go.

Typically at the beach we try to eat fresh seafood, but, thought we would try El Zarape for a change of pace. El Zarape serves your typical dishes found at a quick Mexican restaurant. There was nothing particularly different about their food, but, it was very flavorful and quick. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
