Has been better

We've come here every year with out family, it's a tradition. Food is good and reasonable. This time we had a big group (13) and they seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us. My husband complained that camerones de ajo was not as good as years past, but overall food seemed good. Still a place... read more

We really enjoyed our lunch at El Zarape. The food was great and the hand squeezed margaritas were delicious. The place was really clean. The service was a little too pushy as far as clearing plates and they kept coming back to the table frequently. I would have given it 5 stars, but the server interrupted our meal a lot... More

We stopped in El Zarape on our way home from Emerald Isle. We were in desperate need of vegetarian and Mexican is always a good possibility. We had low expectations and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. They were not to busy at 6pm on a Friday night (although by the time we left, they were full). They place... More

We were not expecting a lot but the food was really good. Unusual items that I had not had in other Mexican restaurants in the western USA. I had a dish with chicken and shrimp texa-something. It was very good. The service was friendly. The decor lacks appeal but go for the food!

Nice place to go if you'd like something other than seafood. We enjoyed our meal, and the location was close to our condo.

Consistently very good place to get Mexican food at very reasonable prices. Typical menu with above average ingredients. Service is very good. If you need a Mexican food fix, EZ is the place.

While on vacation we were craving Mexican, that being said what we received was more American than Mexican. Wait staff was ok, the manager was moving around berating the person responsible for bussing the tables. Overall not at all what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant, but it is on the island without much competition.

The service and food were horrible. My son ordered two beef burritos and was served 2 small tacos and charge $10. The lettuce on other dishes was wilting and almost brown. Two members of our party had upset stomachs after eating here. As a local, I am very disappointed in El Zarape. We used to love it, but no more.... More

Let me begin by saying you can't go wrong with an El Zarape margarita - strong, tangy and superbly mixed. Now, let me back up for the rest of the unfortunate story: We're vacationing here on Emerald Isle, and this spot is across the street from our condo, so why not? We enter, and there are people standing around, looking... More

While visiting Emerald Isle for a weekend we decided to take our family (3 adults, 4 kids) to a restaurant that was advertised in our hotel brochure. It was only 1/2 mile from our hotel and we were glad to not have to drive more. We were hungry, tired and grouchy-hoping for a nice meal together. *DO NOT WASTE YOUR... More
