I didn't really like this restaurant. The salad starter was small and very spare on the good bits. No bread was provided until we asked. My vegetarian entree (main) was very boring and it seems incredible that there is actually no vegetarian option on the menu. The table near the waiting station should be avoided. It is too noisy.

I've only been to Watts for brunch on Sundays, but I've been numerous times. I love their grits bowl, Get it all the way. You won't regret it. And have a mimosa or bloody mary or two. Yum!

This review is only about brunch. Watts serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday. We arrived on a Saturday at close to noon. It was packed and was still packed when we left about 90 minutes later. Packed, of course, doesn't always mean great food, but there was a nice buzz--a pleasant, celebratory mood about the place. The menu offered breakfast,... More

We were staying in Durham for one night, and the place we stayed recommended Watts Grocery as a good local place for dinner. It is large, with a great deal of amateur artwork on the walls, and we were seated at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. However, we were taken care of by one of the best... More

We arrived at opening time on a Tuesday. A half dozen people were already waiting at the outdoor tables. Decor is hip yet inviting. Service was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. Food was a huge letdown. I'll confess up front that I was hoping for a breakfast/brunch dish, but the only offering in that vein was a salmon omelette,... More

I wish I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor before looking for a place to eat in Durham; I would have been better prepared and maybe postponed going to Watts Grocery until there was a special occasion. As it turned out, last evening was a catch-as-catch-can attempt to grab a quick meal after a busy day. And while everything turned... More

Before going to Watts Grocery for dinner I checked out the menu on line which basically rulled out my having dinner there due to the selections. But I stopped by anyway and enjoyed a very good dinner. This is a local restaurant with a southern flare. I ordered the hushpuppies for an appetizer which were perfectly prepared and were accompanied... More

Our trip here was one of the best surprises on a recent trip through Durham. The duck breast over bbq peas and zucchini was perfect and the fried chicken was amazing. The staff and bartender were very helpful!

I went to Watts Grocery for a bachelorette dinner. It was everyone in my party's first visit. We made reservations in advance. We were sat in the back by the servers' station. Being so close, you would think we would receive great service, however that was not the case. Our server was rude and and did not serve us at... More

Glad we knew to get here before it opened! Nice little restaurant. I wish I liked eggs. Always a problem for me to find something to eat from a brunch menu. Settled on pancakes with a side of berries. Huge portion. My husband had the eggs benedict which he loved. My daughter had some sort of pulled pork sandwich with... More
