I loved my visit to Six Plates for a girl's night recently. We visited on a Tuesday night and took advantage of the Tuesday night $4 wine pours. We tried several wines and also had the Lamby Joes and fries. The truffle oil fries topped with parmesan are absolutely delicious and are served with their house made ketchup. The Lamby... More

Six Plates is a casual wine bar with a limited menu of very good food. We went on a Monday night. You order at the bar - food and wine, and choose a place to sit. We were sitting on very comfortable sofas, although there are lots of tables as well. The wine selections are toward the entry level -... More

Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was nice. Food was a disappointment..fries and chips over salted...the rest pretty bland.

This was our first time there -- we were looking for something a little different. Every month they feature six different small plates of food, with a suggested wine pairing -- all interesting combinations of food, all beautifully presented. They also have a limited number of standing menu items. Casual seating at the bar, bar-height tables, or couches and loveseats.... More

After coming in for a couple of years and dealing with the "Self Service" style of service our most recent visit has put Six Plates "On waivers" ( not returning anytime soon). We ordered two glasses of featured Riesling from Alsace only to be told at the bar they were sold out. We then had two glasses of nice but... More

I lucked into Six Plates with a Google Maps search for restaurants near my hotel in Durham. The hotel was a disappointment, but Six Plates was such a find I wouldn't have cared if I slept on a park bench in the rain. The staff was friendly and cool, very helpful with suggestions from the menu and comments on it... More

We met friends there recently, I was a little concerned about such a limited menu, but I was wrong!. The food and service was wonderful. I would go back any time.

My wife and I had a fine meal at Six Plates. Sit at the bar if can, because the bartenders are fun, well-informed, and helpful. The place serves six dishes per day, each with a suggested wine pairing. One of the six plates is an entree. We had a lamb entree and a couple of small plates between the two... More

Fun atmosphere. Food was ALL good! One spot in the restaurant had an issue with the blinding sun in the late afternoon hours so we had to move to the other side in order to be comfortable. Other than that little issue, it was fabulous. I highly recommend it!

The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the variety of small plates. The wine selections were excellent. The decor was very nice - great design and sort of edge-y in a good way. It is set up as half self service in that you place your order at the bar and then they deliver your choices to your table.... More
