Maybe my favorite spot in Durham

While their location is not my favorite, and the set up is a bit unusual, the food is just fantastic. They change it frequently enough to stay interesting and the wine pairings have always been divine. Best French Fries in Durham, IMO, but that goes without saying. The price point is appropriate... read more

Tried this place on a Groupon. Heavy red drapes when you enter. Minimal seating. Looked like less than 2 tables. We sat ar the bar but barstools weren't very comfortable at all. Two bartenders/waiters. Seemed like many tables had been waiting for their server for refills or to even order. Food is all tapas style. Some interesting items but price... More

Samll but nice, loved the couches and the many NC beers that were offered. Our server even let us sample a few of the draft beers offered.

Recently stopped in for some wine and food, and this place did not disappoint. The only negative was that one loud group can really overwhelm the small area. Other than that, it was fantastic. Six constantly updated plates, and then some standards like cheese plates, sliders, etc. Along with a few intriguing wine choices. I opted to try their new... More

The wait staff are incredibly knowledgable and made excellent wine recommendations for my husband and I when we visited for a date night. My friend had told me this was the best place in Durham, and she's damn right. The menu changes weekly (I think) with a few staples always available, but what is most consistent is the quality -... Six plates is on my regular line-up when dining out in Durham. They are inventive with their changing menu and deliver with excellent taste and well-portioned presentation. Staples on the menu like the sliders and truffle fries are a life-line when you're just want something comfortable and familiar. Friendly staff run the front and are always happy to help you... My husband and I are near Duke for upcoming surgery. We badly needed a normal fun dinner out and this was perfect. There is a heavy red drape you enter, and as you walk through it becomes a huge comfy room with sofas as well as hightops around the room. Menu is small but excellent. All sharing plates. We ordered... More

I was just blown away this evening by the awesome food and the owner! Fabulous small plates of amazing food-unique pairings and flavors & great wine. The chocolate truffles are to die for. Everything exceeded or expectations.

Our daughter took us here for a bite and we can't wait to return! Delicious and beautifully prepared dishes. Portioned so we could try a little bit of everything - so much variety and we loved all the homemade sauces and garnishes. They treated our party of seven with ease and we loved the special attention from the wine waitress... More

I have been living in Durham for three years now, and tried many of the restaurants, old standbys, and new ones as they crop up. I must say that Six Plates is my go to stop when I am worn out after work and just want an easy place for a great meal with my wife and a glass of... More
