After coming in for a couple of years and dealing with the "Self Service" style of service our most recent visit has put Six Plates "On waivers" ( not returning anytime soon). We ordered two glasses of featured Riesling from Alsace only to be told at the bar they were sold out. We then had two glasses of nice but... More

I lucked into Six Plates with a Google Maps search for restaurants near my hotel in Durham. The hotel was a disappointment, but Six Plates was such a find I wouldn't have cared if I slept on a park bench in the rain. The staff was friendly and cool, very helpful with suggestions from the menu and comments on it... More

We met friends there recently, I was a little concerned about such a limited menu, but I was wrong!. The food and service was wonderful. I would go back any time.

My wife and I had a fine meal at Six Plates. Sit at the bar if can, because the bartenders are fun, well-informed, and helpful. The place serves six dishes per day, each with a suggested wine pairing. One of the six plates is an entree. We had a lamb entree and a couple of small plates between the two... More

Fun atmosphere. Food was ALL good! One spot in the restaurant had an issue with the blinding sun in the late afternoon hours so we had to move to the other side in order to be comfortable. Other than that little issue, it was fabulous. I highly recommend it!

The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the variety of small plates. The wine selections were excellent. The decor was very nice - great design and sort of edge-y in a good way. It is set up as half self service in that you place your order at the bar and then they deliver your choices to your table.... More

Six Plates is around the corner from Duke (in the back of a strip mall... You might drive past the 1st time). Great small plates made with a variety of fresh ingredients. Hamburger was slightly undercooked, but they fixed this without a hassle.

A friend and I decided to try this restaurant after hearing a friend rave about it. We enjoyed several different dishes (appetizer size)while sipping some delicious wine. It was a great place for conversation and slow eating.

I have been here a few times and have always had a great experience. It has a very nice atmosphere. I think it is a perfect for a girls night out or date night, but definitely not for families. The food we have tried has been delicious (the cheese plate is awesome!). A tad expensive but worth it. Normally we... More

Six Plates is an innovative idea where the plates of food served are just the right amount to split with your companion. Ordering a few (2-4) plates provides a nice meal to share. Tuesday's $4 wine specials were quite good, as well, esp. for the price. Don't pass up the flight of yogurts/sorbets. It's yummy and not so much that... More
