Using our extensive network of regional farmers and fishermen and our close friends in the wine business, we have tried to adapt the experience of a Parisian neighborhood restaurant to offer a unique dining experience. Our food is inspired by French tradition and seasonal, local produce. The wines we serve are all made by vignerons that we know personally, who themselves love food, and who craft their wine to showcase the specific terroir, while harmonizing with the meal. Most of our vignerons practice biodynamic or organic farming. Our prix fixe dinner menu showcases the freshest ingredients the southeast has to offer, prepared simply and with care, served at a bargain price. We also serve classic bistro and brasserie dishes a la carte. Our popular lunch and brunch services feature French-styled sandwiches, crepes, salads, and more.

You can't beat their poulet!

Very comfortable French restaurant in downtown Durham. Classic French dishes, but you can't go wrong with their rotisseire chicken. Wonderful beignets, too. Several good mid-priced wines.

Love the bistro atmosphere at Rue Cler. I've been visiting Durham regularly for the past four years and always try to fit in a meal here. The food is consistently quite good - especially the beignets - which are superb (on par with Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans). Our service was impeccable.

My second disappointing meal here. This is a long standing Durham fixture which has French (sort of) food. My tuna melt (sort of a tuna croque monsieur using tuna and cheese on toast rather than ham) was poor. Canned tuna (in water) covered with cheese. The toast was overcooked and sat around a while making it hard as a rock.... More

There for lunch today. Was really looking forward to eating at Rue Cler. I didn't realize that canned tuna fish on dry white toast with melted(cold) cheese was a French dish! Not even Roux could have saved this. Several others from our group had this as well. Theirs also looked unbearable. How can they possibly let this food(?) out of... More

Delicious beignets, mimosas, and crepes! Fun, "happening" place to go downtown. The salads are also generous sizes and yummy.

What a fun place to have brunch in downtown Durham. Beignets that are fresh and hot, a little bit of New Orleans here in Durham. The eggs benedict in several varieties are always great. Can't wait to try it again.

This was a terrific meal in their private room (which I hadn't known was there). The food was excellent as was the ambiance.

We go to this restaurant on a regular basis, and are never disappointed. I need to eat gluten free, and they are always extremely accommodating to my needs and have no problem with substitutions. I usually get Steak Frites with asparagus substituted for the french fries, and I am always happy. And people who love bread have lots of choices... More

I dined at Rue Cler on a Friday night w/ reservation as I enjoy another French restaurant in the area. The food was excellent, actually more reasonable than the other restaurant, and service good. I have heard that lunch is great as well. I will return.
