Description: Piedmont is first and foremost about the food and the ingredients with respect to the connection between the land and the plate. The cuisine is Contemporary American, seasonally focused and ingredient driven. Our menu changes daily based on what is currently available. Our mission is to provide access to well prepared, sustainably raised, local food. We use only local produce, seafood and meats from sustainable businesses to showcase the diversity of North Carolina foodstuffs. We focus on sourcing the best ingredients from local, sustainable producers with our guide being Coon Rock Farm. We are an elegantly casual restaurant that welcomes both the everyday diner as well as the special occasion gathering.

We had a wonderful meal at Piedmont tonight. Excellent soups with delightful layers of flavor; tasty, imaginative salads; main courses so good that you have to "sop" up all the sauce or drippings with authentic Italian bread made in-house. The desserts we tried were delicious: flourless chocolate cake with sauce and ice cream or a dense almond cake with peaches... More

Although we have many, many fine places to eat in Durham, I'm surprised to see the Piedmont @ #14. It should be listed in the top five. I've been there many times and never had anything but a wonderful meal. The menu is innovative but doesn't make the mistake common to many restaurants of straining for "originality," which usually means... More

I had a decent dinner at this restaurant. The decor is definitely the downside. It is done in very 70-ish earth tones. The attentaive staff makes up for the atmosphere. I was greeted promptly and every employee in the restaurant at some point smiled at me and asked how the meal was. Few restaurants train their staff that well. I... More

Four of us went to this restaurant for dinner last week. The food was excellent and we all had something different. My fish was prepared perfect. The pork chops were excellent and we raved about them (I got a taste). There wasn't one thing we felt was bland or poorly done. The previous reviews are not the experience we had.... More

I went to The Piedmont for Brunch this past Saturday. I had the french toast, and it was the most amazing french toast I have ever had. They also had an amazing Caesar dressing for the salads, and sweet potato soup. I will definitely be going here again.

This is a quaint restaurant with a good variety of local dishes and friendly, knowledgable wait staff. Sometimes service is a bit slow, but the delicious, well-prepared food are worth the wait. Prices are reasonable though not super cheap. It's great for brunch or dinner. It can get crowded at night, but I'm not sure if they take reservations. It's... More

I went to the Piedmont for dinner with my mom who is visiting from Europe. Unfortunately we were both rather disappointed by the food. We had two different salads and two different main courses. All the dishes were rather bland and overpriced. The interior is probably nice, but the light were all very dim, so one could see very little... More

We are true foodies, and had to be in town for our daughter's medical treatments at Duke University. After many nights in the hospital we thought we would venture out for a really good meal. The location of this restaurant is easy,., and the atmosphere is trendy. From the moment we sat down, though, it started to fall apart. For... More

We had dinner here tonight for about the 5th time. It is in downtown Durham and the atmosphere is perfect for being with family and/or friends as it is quiet enough to enjoy conversation. I loved the poulin rouge, my husband devoured the homemade sausage entree, and our daughter inhaled the seared tuna. The chicken liver mousse charcuterie was excellent,... More
