Piedmont is first and foremost about the food and the ingredients with respect to the connection between the land and the plate. The cuisine is Contemporary American, seasonally focused and ingredient driven. Our menu changes daily based on what is currently available. Our mission is to provide access to well prepared, sustainably raised, local food. We use only local produce, seafood and meats from sustainable businesses to showcase the diversity of North Carolina foodstuffs. We focus on sourcing the best ingredients from local, sustainable producers with our guide being Coon Rock Farm. We are an elegantly casual restaurant that welcomes both the everyday diner as well as the special occasion gathering.

First time in Durham, NC and hungry!

A group was celebrating an ART opening....what a great choice of a place to eat! All the plates looked and smelled delicious. I can only talk about the wonderful Risotto I had, cooked rice...but not overcooked, excellent mushroom flavor from fresh mushrooms, not too salty and finished with wine. I... read more

We ate at Piedmont when it first opened and had more of a European-influenced menu. We also did Mother's Day brunch a few years ago. Since then we understand the restaurant has new management and a new head chef. The menu is now more farm-to-fork with local southern ingredients. We had dinner on an early Sunday evening and found the... More

I had eaten the food of Chef Adams during the Competition Dining event and decided to see how well he did when in his natural element. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, presentation beautiful and the service was excellent as well. I was very pleased with the evening. I plan on going back, because I enjoyed it so... More

We went here for the first time with a Durham tasting tour. The restaurant is very modern. The waiters are very kind and give good service. With the tasting tour I had risotto with vegetables, which tasted very good! The owner came to chat with us. He told us they have their own farm and all the products are local.... More

Beautiful food, great combinations of flavors artistically done. Delicious! This is definitely one of Durham's finest! Can't wait to go back.

We went here for the 1st time in mid-December 2014 and can't wait to go back. The food is wonderful. It does have the fresh and earthy quality that one would hope for in a farm-to-table. I was particularly impressed with how thoughtfully and fittingly prepared and cooked were all the dishes. Spices were used in optimal measure to arouse... More

I was very happy to see that Piedmont does Sunday Brunch. I'm not sure how new this is, but am glad that I found this out! We had a so-so dinner there a while back and took the restaurant off our list. But with a new chef and the changes they have made, I think Piedmont is back! With our... More

We recently ate at Piedmont on the recommendation of several friends after having spurned it for a couple of years because we did not enoy it or think the food particularly outstanding. Well, lots has changed: ownership, aspirations, quality, service, now all excellent. Piedmont is now a restaurant built on local providers, serves outstanding food from an interesting if curtailed... ...at least for our one visit (tourists). Waiter was helpful and attentive and listened patiently to us asking him about local beers and whisky, returning with a sample for us to taste. Kitchen split and beautifully plated our salad (greens with crispy soft-boiled egg) and main (seared flounder with marinated eggplant and peppers). Finished with a shared piece of frozen... More

Over the top deliciousness. We visited on Sunday, party of 4. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Sommelier was extremely knowledged in the particular Riesling we were interested in. Both Eric and Brenan took great care of us. Smoky scallop appetizer was one of the best I've ever tasted, with Asian pear, bacon powder and crispy parsnips. Out of this... More
