Description: Piedmont is first and foremost about the food and the ingredients with respect to the connection between the land and the plate. The cuisine is Contemporary American, seasonally focused and ingredient driven. Our menu changes daily based on what is currently available. Our mission is to provide access to well prepared, sustainably raised, local food. We use only local produce, seafood and meats from sustainable businesses to showcase the diversity of North Carolina foodstuffs. We focus on sourcing the best ingredients from local, sustainable producers with our guide being Coon Rock Farm. We are an elegantly casual restaurant that welcomes both the everyday diner as well as the special occasion gathering.

We went here for the 1st time in mid-December 2014 and can't wait to go back. The food is wonderful. It does have the fresh and earthy quality that one would hope for in a farm-to-table. I was particularly impressed with how thoughtfully and fittingly prepared and cooked were all the dishes. Spices were used in optimal measure to arouse... More

I was very happy to see that Piedmont does Sunday Brunch. I'm not sure how new this is, but am glad that I found this out! We had a so-so dinner there a while back and took the restaurant off our list. But with a new chef and the changes they have made, I think Piedmont is back! With our... More

We recently ate at Piedmont on the recommendation of several friends after having spurned it for a couple of years because we did not enoy it or think the food particularly outstanding. Well, lots has changed: ownership, aspirations, quality, service, now all excellent. Piedmont is now a restaurant built on local providers, serves outstanding food from an interesting if curtailed... ...at least for our one visit (tourists). Waiter was helpful and attentive and listened patiently to us asking him about local beers and whisky, returning with a sample for us to taste. Kitchen split and beautifully plated our salad (greens with crispy soft-boiled egg) and main (seared flounder with marinated eggplant and peppers). Finished with a shared piece of frozen... More

Over the top deliciousness. We visited on Sunday, party of 4. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Sommelier was extremely knowledged in the particular Riesling we were interested in. Both Eric and Brenan took great care of us. Smoky scallop appetizer was one of the best I've ever tasted, with Asian pear, bacon powder and crispy parsnips. Out of this... More

Was in Durham and wanted a cocktail and of course a steak. I had eaten here before with a group a couple of months ago and we loved it. Not this time. The steak was pretty good...not a lot of taste but my cocktail (tried it twice) was not tasty at all. The service was worse; funny thing, I still... More

Okay, we did not have reservations but simply wanted a quick bite to eat and were happy to be seated at the bar even though there was almost no one seated in the restaurant. Got a couple of glasses of wine - all good - and took a look at the menu. While the farm to table trend is really... More

I had dined here once before several years ago (I live elsewhere in the state) and had thought the menu was pretty limited and my food was nothing special. This time I was meeting new acquaintances who chose the venue and I am glad they chose Piedmont. The service was good and the food was excellent. There were at least... More

This restaurant really deserves a five star rating. Somewhat casual and informal but deserves a top notch mark in food preparation and service. We have traveled throughout the world and this restaurant is right up in the top. Specialty drinks are excellent and not watered down as one finds in many restaurants. Appetizer selection is innovative and the entree selection... More

Ate on business with clients and thoroughly enjoyed. Very good, locally sourced food with attentive staff and interesting menu. Good variety of options for food and drink so something to suit everyone. Was easy to get a table on a Tuesday evening.
