Lots of root veggies

This is another place in the reborn Durham downtown area. The menu is limited and a little pricey since everything is ala carte. Out table ordered the scallops appetizer $10, sheepshead fish $27 and duck leg $25 and a couple $10 salads. The food is all very brown with lots of roots. Everything... read more

I make a lot of risotto at home, so don't usually order it in a restaurant but the carrot and ginger risotto on offer at Piedmont was too interesting to pass up. We both ordered it and it was delicious. For appetizer I had the smoked ham hock terrine which was served with grapefruit segments and some small pickled sweet... More

Durham is full of new and interesting restaurants with charm and style in the refurbished tobacco warehouse district. Piedmont has great style and ambiance and the food was good, although at times still a bit too southern (carmel corn decor with duck confit...really?). I had the pumpkin and sweet potato soup, good but also perhaps too sweet in a southern... More

Our family had a very nice Sunday Brunch at The Piedmont. All four dishes were delicious. Exceptionally good service in a very nice atmosphere. Hard to top The Piedmont for brunch.

We took our Duke grad who is vegetarian to eat here on Friday night. We started with smoked trout dip that was delicious. Also had scallops cooked perfectly. Moved to main courses. The vegan entree option had great flavor, so daughter was very happy. Other entrees were flounder and catfish. Both were cooked properly with super flavor and complex textured... More

Had dinner here on a recent trip to Durham and was very impressed. Started with the sweet potato and pear soup, which was packed with flavor. For my main I got the smoked pork chop with cabbage, sweet potato, and bacon hash. Amazing. The pork chop was melt-in-your-mouth and packed full of flavor, and the hash was exceptional. Beer and... The Piedmont is a very cool restaurant in downtown. Very contemporary and creative cuisine. We started at the bar and had several craft cocktails to start the evening. The menu is somewhat limited, but they cover a lot of tastes. Their seafood offerings were very interesting. Everything our group tried was excellent. A real treat!

A group was celebrating an ART opening....what a great choice of a place to eat! All the plates looked and smelled delicious. I can only talk about the wonderful Risotto I had, cooked rice...but not overcooked, excellent mushroom flavor from fresh mushrooms, not too salty and finished with wine. I enjoyed each mouthful. They also had a good wine list.... More

We ate at Piedmont when it first opened and had more of a European-influenced menu. We also did Mother's Day brunch a few years ago. Since then we understand the restaurant has new management and a new head chef. The menu is now more farm-to-fork with local southern ingredients. We had dinner on an early Sunday evening and found the... More

I had eaten the food of Chef Adams during the Competition Dining event and decided to see how well he did when in his natural element. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, presentation beautiful and the service was excellent as well. I was very pleased with the evening. I plan on going back, because I enjoyed it so... More
