Landing at RDU after several weeks in Vietnam it was time for a late lunch. We went to the Fishmonger and were not disappointed. I enjoy good basic fried seafood and was pleased. Had the fish sandwich, slaw, fries and a cold beer. They always have several craft beers on tap. Some of the recent... read more

Four of us decided on dinner at Fishmonger’s Restaurant prior to heading over to the theatre for a concert. Two of us ordered the grilled Sea Bass, one the sautéed Scallops and one the grilled Salmon. The sea bass servings were made up of just little pieces. The scallops were served the same way – just little pieces. The rice... More

We picked this place because they advertised barbecue and fish. The waitress was very nice. It seemed like forever to get our food and everyone in the place had been served. We finally got our food. I ordered barbecue which the waitress said was great! On the menu it states it was cooked with hickory. It had very little flavor... More

Sorry for your displeasure but some people cant be pleased. Out of seven restaurant reviews you only gave one a good review. First of all we have too much good food to fill our customers up on hush puppies. Everyone has a different opinion about what they want in a hush puppy. Just like you did not like our slaw.... More

I'm not even sure how a place like this stays open in a city like Durham. Having bought a Living Social deal to try this place out, my wife and I dropped in last night for dinner. The ceiling is falling apart, the place smells, and the tables are draped with plastic. None of that bothers me. We both ordered... More

Sorry about your feelings but all one has to do is see your complaint about the beer prices. $5.00 is a very generous price for a 16 ounce craft beer. The sweet potatoes are NC and cooked in a Smoker. And that is just the beginning you did not have to wait for a table and there were probably tickets... More

Don't let the decor or smell turn you away. Very good seafood served in a casual atmosphere. Oysters and shrimp were fresh and very lightly breaded. There was an abundance of sides to choose from and they were very good. Overall a good place to eat. Will definitely return the next time I am in the area.

I went after I purchased a groupon deal. I've been looking for affordable but quality seafood place in Durham and was really hopeful that Fishmonger's would fit the bill. However, after going, I think that what some other reviewers are saying is probably correct: it used to be better, but "it has dropped a notch!" I started with the clam... More

Fishmongers has always had that rustic, straight off the boat feel to it. The spartan, nautical theme ensured that the seafood had to be the star and it was. We stopped there for lunch and found it looking exactly the same as 6 years ago. However, this time there were very few customers there and it just did not have... More

My husband and I love seafood so we were excited to eat here. The restaurant itself is not in good shape but that didn't bother us. Our server Joey was very helpful and had lots of personality. He recommended a local beer for my husband which I wish I would have also got. My husband had the barbecue shrimp and... More

This was our first visit to Fishmongers. It was clear when we walked in the door that the decor and service were casual and laid back. Much to our surprise the food was great. My wife and I had grilled copia which was excellent. Our son had chicken bbq which he devoured. We'll go back for more. Next time I'll... More

This is a throwback to some old timey restaurants, but we liked the food - oysters, shrimp in particular. Very good shrimp cocktail! Banana pudding was okay - just too heavy on the whipped cream. Parking not easy and neighborhood was a little iffy (but that's Durham),but we thought it was a reasonable value for the money.
