Elegant dining experience and attentive servers!

The entire service staff was very courteous and attentive. The piano player knew our requests and eating in a well-appointed dining room is rare these days. It was truly a... More

Our 2 dinners here , one in June and one in July were very good. The diningroom is very comfortable. Service was gracious and efficient and the food was quite good. Because the menu is limited, the next 2 times we stayed at the WA Duke, we opted to eat elsewhere. I would suggest that they shake things up with... More

This review is for the afternoon tea at the Washington Duke Inn. My wife and I enjoy having high tea for special occasions. We have done this at really nice places like Butchard Gardens in Victoria BC and Kew Gardens in London, as well as other nice places. But living in the Triangle area, we have discovered that tea is... More

The patio provides a beautiful atmosphere so tranquil overlooking the 18th hole of the Duke University Golf Course. Enjoyed bloody Mary's and a wonderful dining experience. Service was precise and relaxed. We did not feel rushed and lingered for two hours visiting. It was restaurant week so the brunch menu and restaurant week menu were offered. Enjoyed the Cristo sandwich,... More

Fairview Dining Room in the Washington Duke Inn was a great choice for an anniversary dinner with my wife. Uncrowded, unhurried, beautiful ambience, live piano player - and food and service that were top-notch. We made it a seafood night, with red snapper for me and scallops for my wife. We both raved about the presentation and tastes. Service by... More

Taking advantage of the cool dry weather in Durham over the past few days, we took my mother out to breakfast at the Fairview for her birthday. Pretty empty on a summer Monday morning. The interior was dark and formal, while the outdoor patio had great views of the Duke golf course. The three of us had a breakfast burrito,... More

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with friends. The waiter was attentive and promptly took our beverage orders. There was a reasonable selection of teas. The sandwiches were ok but needed a bit more filling. Scones were tasty but thin and difficult to slice without breaking into pieces. Lemon curd and cream were very good. The dining room is really... There were 5 of us for dinner on a Friday night. We sat outside and it was in a magical setting - overlooking the greens with twinkling lights. We had swordfish, duck, lamb and 2 filet mignons. We ordered 2 wines, salads and had to polish off our sumptuous meals with some shared desserts - pistachio pavlova, pineapple upside down... More

The Fairview Restaurant in the Washington Duke Inn on Duke University's campus is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food, the service, the atmosphere. It is expensive, but well worth the price. We have been there for dinner, lunch, brunch, sat outside and inside. It is very quiet, very elegant, impeccable service. Everyone goes out... More
