Superb

The Fairview Restaurant in the Washington Duke Inn on Duke University's campus is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food, the service, the atmosphere. It is expensive, but well worth the price. We have been there for dinner, lunch, brunch, sat outside and inside. It is very... read more

We checked in late at the hotel and ate here mostly out of convenience. It was fine, but really nothing memorable. The staff was maybe a bit too eager to be helpful and at some point I just wanted to be left to enjoy the meal. The setting is lovely and they seemed to be able to accommodate the needs... More

I came in for lunch today and I was very happy with the great service. I ordered the shrimp and grits, the food tasted delicious! It was an enjoyable afternoon. Also, I heard about their tea sessions during some afternoons. That sounded like it could be a nice outing to try. Thanks Fairview Dining Room!

The Fairview, the restaurant in the Washington Duke Inn, is one of my favorite restaurants in Durham. It has old world charm and new world flavors with a farm to table concept, an excellent chef, and great entrees and food items. The wine list is also one of the best in the area, with many outstanding choices. The service is... More

My wife and I had wonderful experiences with the quality of both the food and the service at this restaurant, having eaten there twice this weekend. It is a bit pricey for the area but the food is excellent.

Had drinks in the adjacent bar - lots of activity and cozy setting. Dining room was formal but not stuffy - several kids and families enjoying upscale Christmas weekend dinner. Food was interesting and well presented.

Had a great dinner off their special New Year's Eve menu. Our party had a variety of dishes and all were outstanding through each course. Happy New Year!

My husband and I are regulars at the Washington Duke's bar and grill, where the service is invariably good and the food enjoyable. We thought the Christmas Eve dinner at the more formal Fairview would be a lovely event. We were wrong. Our reservation was for 8:30. It was clear from the start that our waiter was trying hard, but... More

This restaurant has definitely declined in the past several years. The service and the atmosphere have changed, and also the overall experience. I dined there thus evening ... as soon as as we were seated the waiter brought a chef tasting to the table ..., Actually before we took our coats off. I ordered the sea bass ... it was... More

I recently had the opportunity to dine at The Washington Duke Inn for afternoon tea. From the moment I entered the hotel, all the staff members were friendly and directed me to the restaurant. There was a nice area to sit by the fireplace with couches and chairs while you wait for others to arrive. The restaurant also overlooks the... More
