Feels LIke the "Real" NC BBQ

The pulled pork at the Q Shack is probably some of the moistest I've ever had in North Carolina. The portions are generous and you have your choice of sauces, including a really nice vinegar pork sauce, which I am not a huge fan of but this one is more subtle than most. And then there are the... read more

This place has a lot of options for food. Turkey, Beef Brisquet, Pork Butt, St Louis Ribs. You can get a sandwich, plate, or even salad. Most of the plates comes with 2 sides and hush puppies. I tried the st louis ribs for $15. It was great. So was the beef brisqut. Threee different sauces to choose from. Sides... More

Being from the Deep South I can attest to some really good BBQ and not what folks in Eastern NC call BBQ. The food is delicious. The BBQ is rich, smokey, and just the right amount of tang. There are several choices of sauce to chose from once you get your plate. The cole slaw is just the right blend... More

Definitely a busy place. We went with some locals who said it's always packed, so we just decided to go for it. Ordering was probably my least favorite part. The people taking our orders were difficult to understand and seemed irritated when we asked them to repeat things. I know it's hard to keep things going when you're that busy,... More

My boyfriend and I love places like this... (We have found 2 amazing places that serve the same type of food.. One in Asheville and one in Concord) so we were excited to try this place out while we were in Durham! It was kind of like a cafeteria line style.. You tell them which meat you want.. Then sides...... More

OK - so that title ending does not make sense, but I wanted to rhyme and that is all I could come up with. But, this place has awesome beef brisket that is so tender and when you add some of that Carolina sauce for a little tang from vinegar, it made my mouth so happy with the party my... More

When planning our trip to Durham, I KNEW that The Q Shack had to be on our list of restaurants! The amount of flavor, meat, and sides that you get are well worth the price! And everything is good there... the pulled pork, chicken wings, turkey, fried okra, fries, baked beans, hush puppies, mac n cheese, etc... and they have... More

You want really great NC Q then head to the shack. Really great pulled pork and all the sides you would expect.

The expectation I had after talking to some locals. I had the double meat platter with sliced brisket and smoked sausage. Great choice along with the fried okra which was very good. A must stop in Durham!

My favorite barbeque restaurant in the Triangle. Chopped brisket, onion rings and fried okra are my go-to meal, Never disappointed.
