Lived in Texas prior. Was very impressed overall. Great hot fresh flavorful brisket. Good sides. Ok, fried okra was unusual at a bbq place, but was the best I have had really anywhere - probably because was really freshly prepared. I don't live in the area but will plan to return on every trip.

The brisket, smoked turkey, and smoked buffalo wings are amazing, and so is the Q-Cobb Salad. I nearly always get the Q-Cobb salad. It's a great size. Sometimes it looks like it might be too small, but it ends up perfect. The brisket and the turkey are great when they intermingle with the chopped egg and avocado in the home-made... More

Come with an appetite. Very filling. Cost is very reasonable. Don't expect anything fancy. Just good honest Carolina BBQ.

Does Q stand for Quality, it would be correct. Does Q stand for Quite delicious, it would be correct. Does Q stand for Quantity, it would really be correct. The smoked turkey sandwich has always been awesome. My husband goes for the pulled pork, baked beans, another winner. The atmosphere is defintely an relaxing outdoor style bar-b-que, with an occasional... More

We enjoy (The Q Shack) on a regular basis. We find it great for our business clients and families. The menu has many choices and the Bar-B-Q has a different twist compared to the traditional NC Bar-B-Q, which I am happy about, because it creates and new variety here locally. We have dined in and had the carry out as... More

I was fooled by all the cars parked outside. The ribs were just okay. The side dishes were not that great. Mac-n- cheese lacked flavor, as well as the greens. We haven't been back.

We ate here on September 8th and I was extremely disappointed. I was expecting Barbeque, but maybe this is a different style of barbeque and I'm just not there. Anyway: Ribs - pretty good - fatty Pulled pork - horrible probably the worst I've every had. Floating in some kind of sauce with a sour taste. One bite for my... More

We stopped here to eat while on a UNC college tour and couldn't have been more happy. We loved the picnic tabled outdoor porch. The microbrews they carried were excellent. The ribs were fantastic w just the right balance of sauce. The hush puppies were the best I've had yet. We are from the North where hush puppies are hard... More

Brisket, chopped or sliced pork, turkey bar-b-que all good with generous sides. My favorite, fried okra, but potato salad, baked beans and jalapeno deviled eggs! Choice of beers, including Shiners. Outdoor seating at picnic style tables. Not fancy, but good eats and reasonable prices. They also do take-out and offer pricing for groups.

This is my go to spot for BBQ and ribs. New places come around and I try them but usually they disappoint. The Q Shack in Durham never fails. Always good ribs. Always good sides. Atmosphere isn't fancy at all but the food is great and consistent.
