I've made the drive to Durham twice for this classic and delicious French Food and have been impressed both times. Order the chicken liver pate, escargo and the tournedos of beef. It's an intimate restaurant so i recommend a reservation. Our server was knowledgable and attentive which I strongly value when dining out. Writing this review is making me hungry.

We live nearby and have dropped in without a reservation three times in the past year and a half. Each visit has been a wonderful experience; the service, the food, all very good. We even get sat at the same table; right by the front door, lol! but we don't mind, it's always worth it. Our daughter went for prom... More

In 1969, a Vin Rouge would not exist in Durham when I was at Duke. But, in 2016, I sat across my beautiful and brilliant Duke daughter and enjoyed a remarkable meal. Her French onion soup and my potato with bacon rocked. My hangar steak with pommes freites was terrific as was my daughters pork dish. Washing it down with... More

I have a list of restaurants to visit and Vin Rouge has been on there for sometime and I waited WAY to long to visit. My husband and I went there last weekend and it was amazing. The food was outstanding; we ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers and wine. Mac n' cheese, clams, french onion soup, salad, but... More

My husband and I came to Chapel Hill to visit our daughter. Everywhere we travel, we look for a French bistro or Reataurant. Our daughter suggested Vin Rouge. Reservations are highly recommended. So I made one. We were greeted by the manager, Michael. While we waited, we came about 15 min earlier, Michael offered us a drink and said, he... More

Located on 9th street. Small off-street parking lot. The decor is that of a cozy French country inn. Excellent service. We split the sweetbread appetizer. Entrees included the filet mignon, the boullabaise, and the salmon. All were excellent. Dessert was the chocolate torte, again outstanding.

My wife and I usually do not seek out French resturants, but our daughter and son-in-law love this place and, after all, it was their combo birthday. It was packed and noisy so it was hard to converse, but that was the only drawback. The food was fresh and the service was excellent. I highly recommend the the salmon dijon... More

We stumbled into this impressive contemporary French cafe quite by accident, but neither of us can resist trying a new one when the opportunity arises. The food was just exceptional, the service largely attentive. I would have scored Vin Rouge with another star had it not been for the noise level (owning to hard surfaces everywhere) and the waiter's occasional... More

Hadn't eaten here in several years and wasn't disappointed. Everyone in our group was quite happy with their food, from appetizers and salads to main course. Wine was well priced. Waiter was a bit too casual, not well trained, but friendly none-the-less. We were there on a Sunday evening, so it was probably the B team - lol.
