Went to Vin Rouge, one of Durham's top restaurants, to celebrate Bastille Day with friends. It was excellent as usual. Pleasant venue with pleasantly of room between tables so you don't feel you are on top of each other. Service was great...not rushed, but always nearby when we wanted something. The food! We started with a charcuterie for the table.... More

Ever since I left France my desire for a more authentic French feel has increased and I was delited to find that Vin Rouge was just what I needed. The prices were great for the service and the food you get.

An authentic French feel to this lovely restaurant sets the tone for an equally great meal. Nice wine selection, great bread and very diverse food choices. I couldn't make up my mind so I went with vichyssoise (potato/leek soup served cold) which was really good. Next, I went with liver. REALLY good. My tablemates all had different items that they... Brunch is familiar enough (omelettes, French toast, eggs benedict) but with little extra French touches like a little salad and some baguette slices with butter. More unusual brunch offerings include a hangar stake and steamed mussels. Coffee and orange juice are always delicious, and you can get mimosas, bloody mary's and other adult beverages after noon on Sunday. They have... More

Four of us chose the fixed price menu. The vegetables on the sausage entree were cool; the hanger steaks were "funny" tasting. Service and ambience were great.

Highly recommend this restaurant for very good food overall. However, I recently became aware of the restaurant serving Sunday Brunch. This is hard to fine in the Durham area especially for a place that is not fast food. The restaurant serves most items you would expect for a served Sunday brunch but in addition they have a hammer steak and... More

We are locals and have enjoyed the past few weekends by having brunch at Vin Rouge. We are restauranteurs and are pretty picky, but Vin Rouge always pleases :) The service is top notch and the atmosphere is very French, yet laid back in a Southern Style. The menu has something for everyone and the wine list is great for... More

We went because we heard so many good reviews; did not share those reviews; found it to be expensive, especially given the small portion sizes. The food was good - not great, but good. Convenient location, nice ambience inside; service slow and a little discombobulated when it's a larger group (we went twice; first time there were only 4 of... More
