My wife asked for fresh (i.e., not toasted) bread on her turkey sandwich. The bread was crusty and stale and had some blue... More

When you just want a good, home cooked meal, this is the place! I have eaten here several times, and it is always delicious, home-cooked food. Great comfort food! The place to go when you want a meal you can always count on.

This was the first place that I tried Shrimp and Grits. It is the best in town. I have tried them at several other places for brunch and have to say Elmo's is over the top. Great flavor, smooth creamy grits and a plate full! Great work Elmo's

Elmo's is a Durham institution. The food is really great and I always seem to need a to go box before I leave. They have generous portions! Staff is friendly, helpful, and despite the crowd that seems to hover over Elmo's (esp on weekends) never rush you. I like that they have tons of crayons and kids activities available to... More

I still remember the great choices and how delicious my meal was and hope to go back there sometime in the future . The service was excellent, and they did not hurry us out when we continued to chat for a while... More

There are two Elmo's restaurants in the Triangle, one in Durham and the other in Carrboro. Pretty sure the menu is the same at both. Whichever you choose, you can always get wonderful food served by very friendly staff from morning until night. More familiar with the Carrboro restaurant, which is located behind Carr Mill, with plenty of parking, though... More

I was looking for a breakfast spot with traditional southern foods, Elmo's did not disappoint. Located in a beautifully restored brick building, it had lots of character and a friendly staff. The biscuit was homemade - fluffy and not dried out as biscuits often are. The sausage gravy was the best I ever had- not too salty. Combined with eggs,... More

Wonderful food prepared with fabulous ingredients, in a wonderful way! Tasty, healthy, unique meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.Elmo's has that "homey" friendly atmosphere with food prepared like mama would want to give to us, if mama was a great cook! Their home made deserts are top of the line! A must experience if in the Durham area.
