Good eating in Durham

This is a must go place when in Durham and we locals like this place too. The food is good and prices are reasonable, the only problem is parking, not a big lot and if you park in the other Restaurant in the back, your vehicle will get towed. There's parking on the street, but it's also hard to... read more

This is a very popular and busy restaurant for breakfast, especially on weekends. You will almost always have a wait inline to get a seat. While the food is vey good, it is not anything special and sometimes the service is slow because of the wait staff being overwhelmed.

I have eaten here many times over the last couple of years and each time I have had a great experience. I love that they have breakfast available all day. My favorite is the sun flour French toast. All the food is great.

The food and service are great. There is sometimes a wait but it is always worth it. Staff are friendly and helpful. A terrific breakfast any time of the day!

The food is good here, the price is right and the wait staff nice. But the men's toilets are an absolute disgrace. Sometimes you stick to the floor as you walk. Sometimes the sink is so dirty I feel better off using my hand sanitizer back at the table. Everything else is great. Is a clean toilet asking too much?... More

The food here is okay, I always order chicken& dumplings. They must precook them or they're frozen. They've never been hot of seemed just cooked to me. I always have to ask to have food reheated. It does has a pleasant taste. The location is the best part near Duke University & many local art/crafts shops.

I ate at Elmo's for dinner, a rare occurance. They have a great breakfast. My dinner was pretty good (chicken and dumplins') but my husband's dinner was pretty ordinary. The chicken breast was small, although tasty. The vegetable of the day--peas and carrots--tasted like they came out of a can. I'd return for breakfast any day. Dinner, perhaps.

Going to Elmo's is like playing baseball with a familiar mitt. It is predictable, well broken in, reliable and comfortable. You might have to wait awhile if you go at noon, and they won't seat you unless your entire party is present, which can be a bit annoying. But once your seat hits the chair you will never be disappointed.... More

We stopped for breakfast on the way to Costco. It was very busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes. I had the hash, and my wife had the eggs florentine. The food was delivered quickly, and it was excellent. Very friendly service too. I really liked the coffee. This is a great neighborhood spot. We'll be back.
