Perfect place for pastries and pies!

My family and I stopped here on our day trip to Durham. We got here about 3:45 (15 minutes before they closed) so they had sold through most of what they had made that day. They still had a nice selection though. When we walked up to the barista he was not rude in any way and if we didn't... read more

Scatch is on a one-way side street and is a little tough to find if you are looking for it. It's cute and perfect to grab a quick bite, especially on a nice day. There is limited seating, order at the bar, then seat yourself. Farm to table selections every day. And the assortment of pies, eclectic, but tasty. I... More

The breakfast menu on New Year's Day had some unique and tasty offerings. Our party ordered two different bowls. They were both unique in flavor and presentation. Chocolate muffins werealso fresh and sweet enough without being overpowering.

We stopped in for breakfast. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We enjoyed a cappuccino and mocha latte. Both were delicious. We also tried the avocado toast with buttermilk radishes. This was a meal. The plate came with a large slice of fresh bread with mashed avocado and thinly sliced radishes that were drenched... More

This placed is packed all the time. For good reason. Everything is really special and satisfying. Imaginative donut/muffins (big donut in the shape of a muffin) Shirred eggs. Great southern biscuit

3 of us went. I got a whole pie to take home. I got the lemon shaker pie for 24 dollars...it was small...the crust was thick and tough. We sat down to have drinks and small things. I got the chocolate chess pie. It was cake like and not that chocolatey, the chocolate muffin was dry. We had to ask... More

We've gone back every time we visit Durham, and even introduced our friends in Raleigh to this place. I've had their shirred eggs and their meat pie, my wife liked the torta and chocolate chest pie, In fact we took a whole chocolate pie to our daughter at Duke, and she and her friends demolished it in about 15 minutes.

I ordered an apple streusel pie from Scratch for our small family Thanksgiving . Picked it up the day before the holiday . At a cost of $24.00 I was expecting it to be larger than a 10 inch pie and better than homemade . We were all puzzled as to why this bakery has such a following . The... More

This was near the hotel where we stayed - walking distance. The variety of pastries and breakfast fare was good. The ones we selected including the sugared donuts (which are like muffins rolled in sugar) were wonderful.

Great place in the neighborhood for coffee and light eats. They stick with what works though I'd love a few more choices. Excellent service and fun spot to sit outside with the dogs. Great anchor on Orange St
