Fast service even when the place is busy, delicious burgers and a great selection of interesting beers. Overall atmosphere is that of a neighborhood bar, a laid back setting that makes for an enjoyable and tasty meal. Easy to see why it's a popular spot - will definitely return next time we're in the area!

Stopped in by myself while visiting Durham for a Duke game. The burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The quality of the beef and the flavor were outstanding. The variety of beer will make it hard to make a decision. I had a couple of the Double IPAs they had on tap and they were... More

This place is a hidden gem on 9th street. Great burgers, great comfort food, a huge assortment of beer - what's not to like? Inside it's small but nice, and there's usually soccer on the tv.

Nice place.Small but the food is good. They have tator tots. The burgers are good. It's great bar food. You might question it once you walk in but the food is great. Sit at the bar. It's a good experience.

if you're in the mood for something that's not on your diet plus a really good beer, there's not a better destination in Durham that Dain's. Burgers are seasoned just right, fries or tots are delicious (if you've got three or more get a basket to share rather than paying the upgrade to fries: it's a big basket). My personal... More

Truly great hole in the wall restaurant. Personal fave! I had "The Defibrillator" burger and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Super delicious, definitely messy! Take that Man vs Food!!

We stopped here with friends for an evening of good local beer and to try their food. A Google search seemed to rate them fairly well as far as the best local cheese steak went, and since this is one of my favorite sandwiches we decided to give it a try. They have a great selection of local and craft... More

Just passing through on the way home to VA and made a stop in Durham for dinner. Glad we took a chance on Dain's. Great beer selection and I was pleasantly surprised by their veggie burger, as these usually disappoint me (but I don't eat beef). Its definitely a college bar and seemed to have its regulars. We had no... More

There are many small bars in college towns, but none with food as tasty as Dain's. Went there solely from its spot on Man vs. Food. I had the Dain's Burger and it was delicious. I almost ordered fries until the barkeep informed my that the tots are the way to go. Threw a little old bay in the tots... More

Our son recommended the burgers here, so we gave it a try. The meat was not flavorful, the burgers overlooked. Toppings were good, but not worth our time overall. If they use better meat and cook them right it would have been great. Go for good beer, skip the burger.
