Ninth Street Hangout

Ninth Street is becoming a cool place to visit as the area of the former Erwin Cotton Mills transforms itself to reflect the 21st century. Dain’s is in the heart of the gentrification, and is a lovely place to hang out. The local pub is small thus getting a seat may be difficult at times. I met... read more

Originally heard that Bull City had the best burger in town, but The Dainer at Dain's was considerably better than I've had elsewhere. Great combination of flavors, and exceptionally good tater tots and fries. Even for someone that isn't much of a beer-lover, there were plenty of options I enjoyed. Well-placed TVs around the interior so everyone has a clear... More

I went here because it was on the food show "Man vs Food". I had the "Dain's Homemade Steak Soup" and my wife had the "Cheese Steak Sandwich". The food was well prepared and very flavorful. The Bar/Restaurant was small with outside seating also. It was an nice atmosphere and cool decorated well with quotes from different famous persons about... More

In a world where restaurants race to the bottom by cutting back on quality and quantity, this place is a breath of fresh air. My son and I visited this place on a recommendation from a local police officer, and I would do the same for any friend or family member looking for a great place to eat. Owner is... More

Forget the great Hamburgers, or Hot Dogs deluxe, but go for the Dark N Stormy or the Moscow Mule in the copper cups! This neighborhood bar has lots of beer choices and they cover most mainstream bourbons, scotches and such, but come in early before 7 and order a DNS or Mule. You will think you are in Hamilton.

Have always wanted to go here but on weekends it's packed. Went on a rainy Tuesday night and all the tables were filled, some spots open at the bar (I think the place honestly holds about 35 people) and two seats in the front window at their own wall mounted counter top. We chose there to sit. Wait staff is... More

Dain's is my favorite bar in Durham. Great selection of local beers at decent price. Friendly staff, delicious food and lively atmosphere. Try the Dain's Burger with cheese fries. Sometimes they have trivia nights which are fun and rewarding (for winners). Their rotating tap offers interesting options. I highly recommend their local and craft beer selection. Sit at the bar!

I don't know when Danes opened but it has the feeling and character of a restaurant that's been open for decades. This is not a concept or chain restaurant. The small menu has great burgers on the local bakery buns , loaded tater tot's with cheddar cheese and bacon everywhere , great fries and A nice assortment of regional beers.... More

The place is very small with tables and chairs very close to each other. This usually bothers me but for some reason I was very comfortable here. I loved the line of single fans over the bar that swayed back and forth. They have an amazing beer selection. We shared a triple-decker BLT on sourdough bread and it was very... More
