Great meal close to the airport

When out of town friends come to Raleigh Durham for work and I have the opportunity to meet them at a nearby hotel, I take them to Mez for dinner. It is convenient to the airport hotels. I had the carne asada special with a cole slaw over cheese grits. The blood orange maragarita and ginger... read more

This is advertised as an "upscale" Mexican restaurant - okay, I get that, but... the prices took my breath away and they do not offer free chips. When we said something about the chips, the waiter said "sorry, but we offer them as an appetizer." So, we decided to order the guacamole. What they brought us was a massive bowl... More

Great food, great ambience but noticed an air of arrogance in customer service. Yes, we know you are good but no need to rub it in the face. Be a little more polite and it will take you further. Again, great food.

Met some friends here for dinner. Everything that everyone had was good, from chips to tacos. I ordered the Brisket - if you like brisket you have to try Mez's. Huge piece of meat and great flavor.

Called in for a light lunch. Nice surroundings and very quiet on a Saturday mid-afternoon. I only wanted a drink and something small to eat so sat at the bar. Ordered a small salad with pumpkin seeds and it was really tasty and it was the right size when you don't need a big meal. Wish the young waitress hadn't... More

Excellent taco happy hour (4-6 M-Fri). Each taco costs $2 or $3 and I was full after four. The Fish taco and spicy chicken taco were fantastic. The sauces were great and the ingredients very fresh. What a value. In addition, the wait staff was wonderfully helpful without being overbearing. I will return.

Went with a bunch of people to dinner and we ordered the chips and salsa - which I think were the tiniest little salsa samplers you've ever seen and to share between 8 of us was funny so of course we had to order several. Had some of the grilled catfish tacos and they just weren't anything all that great.... More

The environment and food were good. We had the Guacamole and chips to start. Excellent choice as the combination of ingredients and just the right touch of spice/bite was spot on. I had a Quesadilla Flour tortilla, corn peppers, jack cheese with chicken and a soda. Service was very good and as well as the food. We sat talking for... More

Service was very good and the food was great! We had the chips and salsas appetizer (delicious) followed by enchiladas and burritos. Huge portions but excellent quality and flavors. Margarita was tasty too! :) I would definitely go back when in the area.

Very nice decor at MEZ. The menu is a tad bit limited but that's probably not a bad thing at a Mexican place. Chips and salsa was a bit pricey, but everything else was fairly priced, especially the $2 happy hour tacos. Nice choices for kids that includes ice cream or sorbet.
