What a fabulous spot for a quick bite! Friendly staff, delicious food and great wine selections. The butternut squash soup was fabulous! We even managed to get the ingredients for the warm marinated olives. Seating is limited.

We were driving from Richmond to Charlotte for work and we're in Durham at lunch time. Thanks to reviews on here and Yelp we found this place. You had to view for a table but it wasn't too bad on a rainy Monday at noon. I had the mushroom soup and it was vegetarian! It was so good. I also... More

Such an excellent lunch option. And as a vegetarian, I was thrilled with all the interesting options. Each of the three types of crostini was unique and delicious, as was the vegetarian rice soup. Even the iced tea was excellent. Toast is definitely a favorite!

It was really difficult to decide what to eat at Toast as everything looked and sounded amazing. I finally decided on the 3 crostini's with soup and the food did not disappoint! I tried the crostini's with goat cheese/honey/pepper, avocado/lemon/grana Padano, and beets/mint/orange/robiola. The combination of flavors on all of these was unique and tasted divine. I loved that there... More

There are sandwich places and then there is Toast. A cornerstone to the reemerged downtown Durham, I've loved coming to sit at Toast and monthly watch additional great places open. But I digress. Simply put, Toast has the best soup. A combination of one of their very homemade soups with a sandwich is arguably one of the best, high quality... More

There is so much to love at toast. The food is fabulous. Not super fancy--it is Italian sandwiches--but excellently executed and often bursting with flavor. But the owner at the register also adds so much. She is so kind, pleasant and efficient that she brights your day just with a few sentences. Toast has the intangible extra ingredient that lets... Toast is one of the best sandwich shops in the area. The paninis, and soups are fresh and are oooie-gooie goodness. Guarantee you will have difficulty selecting only one sandwich.

We bought a bike across the street and were very hungry. Toast was the first restaurant we saw. Nice little place. It was very busy! They serve different types of Italian dishes: Panini, crostini, soup etc. They don't have many vegetarian options. I had a cheese Panini with salad and my husband a Panini with soup. Cold tomato soup mind... More

Defy the typical brunch with a trip to Toast. Although I'm not a typical soup and panini fan, the offerings at Toast are more upscale, creative, and cooked to perfection. I had a chicken, roasted pepper and cheese panini that was the best I've ever had, and a rice, cherry tomato and bean soup that was equally tasty. Best of... More
