Toast is one of the best sandwich shops in the area. The paninis, and soups are fresh and are oooie-gooie goodness. Guarantee you will have difficulty selecting only one sandwich.

We bought a bike across the street and were very hungry. Toast was the first restaurant we saw. Nice little place. It was very busy! They serve different types of Italian dishes: Panini, crostini, soup etc. They don't have many vegetarian options. I had a cheese Panini with salad and my husband a Panini with soup. Cold tomato soup mind... More

Defy the typical brunch with a trip to Toast. Although I'm not a typical soup and panini fan, the offerings at Toast are more upscale, creative, and cooked to perfection. I had a chicken, roasted pepper and cheese panini that was the best I've ever had, and a rice, cherry tomato and bean soup that was equally tasty. Best of... More

I have been to Durham twice and have gone back to Toast - a rarity for me as I typically try new places. But Toast is excellent. Make sure to try the soups - I had a spicy lentil today and begged for the recipe. Every sandwich is spot on as well!

Fresh ingredients, good flavors, neat atmosphere. Salad was lightly dressed, gazpacho was delicious. (and tuna salad, olive based rather than mayo - yum!) Worth a stop!

My wife and I stopped in to Toast for the first time this week. We are both glad we did. The soup (lentil and wild mushroom) was out of this world good. We split two different panini's: grilled chicken with roasted sweet peppers and a sausage plus cheese. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The peppers added a touch of... More

We were almost put off by the long line, but I'm glad we waited. And the wait was shorter than I'd expected too. They seem like a well-oiled machine. We all had paninis. I had to try the sausage and broccoli rapa because I'm from near philly. Well, it was flavorful, but no Tony Lukes. My friends enjoyed the sopressata... More

Went with another couple and everyone was happy with their selections. Casual, friendly atmosphere. Many choices, big and small. Both soups and salads were delicious. Make sure to check out specials.
