Description: If a special evening of dining is in your plans, look no further than Kimball’s Kitchen, formerly the Left Bank. Located on the Soundside of the Sanderling Resort, Kimball’s offers glorious view of the Currituck Sound and its inspiring sunsets, outstanding service and a world class menu. Kimball’s Kitchen offers everything that is special about both the Sanderling and the Outer Banks. Spotlighting local, grass-fed prime steaks, freshly caught local seafood, and an extensive raw bar selection, the restaurant creates a great dining experience with an upscale coastally casual environment. Of particular note are the numerous varieties of local oysters and the classic seafood tower, with a daily changing list of locally caught fish and seafood. Daily pasta and risotto specials are accompanied by an extensive Wine Spectator wine and champagne list. Children are welcome and are served smaller portions of the standard menu with a 50% price break.

I am a serious foodie, and had great expectations for the resto. The wine list was impressive, the resto and atmosphere are great, and the service was quite good. But the food was really off. The fritters, and side dishes for the most part did not have sufficient salt and were bland. The scallops were not great. The sushi roll... More

We were looking for a lighter meal and REALLY enjoyed the oysters, but the highlight of our meal was the Kistler Chardonnay - in other words, they have a very good wine list as we often find it difficult to find our favorite Chardonnay on the East Coast. The salads were just ok - I found the grilled romaine salad... More

Avoid this restaurant during school vacations - it's like one big, very expensive happy meal. And stick to the simple items on the menu. This is not the "Left Bank" of old but rather a disappointing re-positioning as yet another "family restaurant". Pity

We had a very nice anniversary celebration at Kimball's Kitchen. The view over the sound at sunset was fabulous. The meal was tasty and the presentation was great. I had a petit fillet and crab cake on a bed of baby lettuces. Very nice. For dessert a selection of sorbets. Presented well. Great taste. Our server was attentive. I liked... More

Loved our special dinner here. We had the best seat in the house for the sunset. Food was outstanding -- oysters, grilled romaine salad, scallops, veal chop, . And the server was really nice and laid-back (in a nice way) and helpful. We'll be back!

It was pretty good but I was really looking for fabulous seafood. The chocolate creme brûlée is a nice finish as well as the port.

Had a wonderful meal- the only thing sub par was the wedge salad(didnt compare to Paper Canoe) grouper with Ponzu sauce was excellent as were the sides- mashed potatoes, vegetables. Server very knowledgeable and attentive. Need reservation- ask for a window table. Lovely setting. Pricey but worth the splurge.

Last stayed at Sanderling 2 years ago when this was 'Left Bank,' its somewhat pretentious but delicious 5-course French restaurant. Enjoyed that experience but felt it was too highbrow for most beach vacationers. Now, KImball's Kitchen is every bit as lovely but more accessible to families, both in style and by menu. Kimball's is now a steak and seafood restaurant... More

We returned to Kimball's Kitchen because we loved it last year. When we reserved we knew to ask for a table by the windows. Our waiter was efficient and helpful. He assured us we would not rush us when we declined ordering our entrees when ordering an app. We ordered oysters and crab fritters. I had ahi tuna which was... More
