High quality food without sacrificing a casual atmosphere. Drink choices and draft beers were good. One improvement could be of the crab dip, it seemed to taste more like artichoke dip. The scallops and the duck were exquisite. Definitely a good place to eat and watch the sunset over the sound.

Can't wait to go again! Overlooking the sound, had pizza and salad that were just really tasty. The pizza was thin and loaded with flavor. The staff was very helpful on selecting a lovely wine and always attentive.

We ate here back in August and it was a memorable dinner. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. I had crab cakes as did our daughter. Our son said this was one of the best meals he has had in a long time.

Great meal and excellent service! We had friends visiting who are quite selective about where they eat. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our choices which included striped bass, flounder, and the scallops. Reserve a window table at sunset and enjoy the breathtaking view!

We dined at 5:30 on October 16. Our waiter, Brad, was very attentive. After I expressed concern that I might not like the sauce on the scallops, he brought me a sample. When I did not like it, he had the chef prepare the scallops to my liking. The food was excellent, the local beer was a hit with my... More

We reserved sunset seats at Paper Canoe. The view was great. The menu was diverse; I had the flounder and crab meat and recommend it highly. I look forward to returning in the future.

We just discovered Paper Canoe during a stay at the Sanderling. I would rate it as among the top 2 or 3 restaurants north of Nags Head. Not at all fancy, but some good views of the sound and outstanding food. I would recommend reservations.

The Paper Canoe is open late spring through end of October in Sanderling, NC in the Outer Banks. We ate twice at the Paper Canoe in the mid-October week. We like the back bar window view seating overlooking the Sound. Call ahead to reserve it as these seats go fast and there are not many! We watched the sun set... More
