The Paper Canoe is right on the sound offering a great view of the sunset if you time it right. If you can't get into the main dining room, get a table in the bar area to take in that sunset. The bar itself is also a nice alternative. Our server was attentive and entertaining. We saw the manager circulating... More

We went to Paper Canoe on a Friday night in August and were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation. We arrived early to have a few drinks and sat outside to watch the sunset. The manager came out and spent a lot of time talking to us about the area and the restaurant. Everyone's food was delish! My... More

We found the food at the Paper Canoe to be good for couples as we really enjoyed our meal and the sound view, but a little strange as far as combinations on their pizza that really did not appeal to families with young to teen age children. The service was great and really like the atmosphere.

we dropped in for appetizers and a light meal. this restaurant has a very professional staff, really unique building that is very well redesigned. excellent food. menu is changing all the time. we may go back very soon for a full meal. not cheap, but worth the price! lots of custom beer options. bread was terrific, and clam chowder was... We had eight in our party including 4 children 2 to 12 and everyone came away very happy. Tom the owner is very engaging - he made sure our table was clean and ready - he offered advice on the menu when asked and clearly loves what he does! He offered my daughter a sample of the chowder to make... More

This was our first time at The Paper Canoe, and we weren't disappointed. I started with their clam chowder, and it's in my top 5 of best chowders ever. My wife had the crab stuffed shrimp and I had the duck...(how appropriate!) Both were excellent. Service was awesome and the view spectacular. I like the fact that it's located a... More

We returned here for a third year in a row during our annual family vacation to Duck. As the kids get older (all are now teenagers) our experience gets better, as it really features grown-up fare despite the presence of families with young children. The food was Delicious, if a bit overpriced; it is an island, so we are willing... More

We had a wonderful time at the Paper Canoe on our visit to the Outer Banks. The restaurant was packed but service was excellent and attentive and the food delicious. The grilled romaine salad was a terrific starter. The sausage pizza was quite good as was the margarita pizza. The New York strip steak with potato croquettes was excellent. The... More

Not much to add to other reviews. We ate here with a party of 4 on a Wednesday evening - had made reservations a couple of weeks in advance. We waited about 15 minutes for our table- enjoyed a drink on the very small patio while waiting. (Reservations are taken for bar seats so that was only option). Shrimp and... More

Just really good meal and great view of the sunset. Reservations a must during season. Looks sort of dumpy from the outside. Great bar also if you just want a drink. Best meal I have had in the Outer Banks.
