This is a nice restaurant with good food, good service, nice atmosphere. We were able to make a reservation a few days in advance which was very nice especially because we had a party of 12. A few of the disappointments are: 1. The food was good but would say it is a bit over priced 2. They do not... More

We visited this restaurant during a large family vacation. The staff was great - very friendly and was able to find us two tables for our party. We ordered a variety of entrees, from wood-fired pizza to fish to shrimp & grist, all of the food was great. There was also a nice list of about a dozen micro brews.... More

We visited the Paper Canoe in July while on vacation in OBX. We had 12 adults and made a reservation several months in advance. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, they have a nice selection of craft beers on tap and an excellent bar. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated which gave us time to enjoy a drink... More

We went here last Tuesday evening. There was a large group of us and we were welcomed readily. Many people mentioned the sunset. Beautiful from their back deck. The food is where the awesomeness lies. The apps were yummy. My picky eater daughter ate the duck potstickers!! The mac&cheese kid ate duck and love it!! Everyone was immensely pleased with... More

Three couples, we dined at sunset, and were the last to leave the restaurant on a weeknight. The staff were all quite friendly, making us feel comfortable asking questions about the menu. The simple interior is perfect, as the food is really the main attraction - our meals were fantastic.

The Paper Canoe in Duck, N.C. is described as a "Wood-Fired Oven, Ale House & Wine Bar." It's every bit of that and a whole lot more. We love this kind of restaurant. There are many things to recommend this whimsical place but here are two of the best. First, we could actually hear greetings of admiration in the restaurant... More

Our family went to Paper Canoe on Saturday, July 12,2014. We had gotten in a bit late and got to the restaurant at 9:30pm. Even though the owner had given instructions to the staff to shut down the kitchen, they seated us and served us with professionalism and care. We ordered appetizers and drinks. All were outstanding. Our biggest mistake... More

We enjoyed Paper Canoe so much we went twice. We ate in the bar area at a two top table which was perfect in that we wanted a more casual vibe without sacrificing food quality. The first night we had the grilled tuna special which was excellent. The second night we went for more casual fare and the pizza did... More

Party of 7 first time visit. We loved the asian tuna, grouper and yellowtail amd duck on special tonight. The mac-n-cheese, corn bread and sausage pizza were also terrific. Three people in our party are GF and had lots choice and flexibility. Owner and staff know their stuff. We'll be back!

The wife and I enjoyed dinner at the Paper Canoe but I was slightly disappointed in my dinner. I ordered the crab cakes. Now what I consider normal crab cakes have crab, filler, and some binder combined with seasonings. These seemed to have crab that was stuck on the filler which tasted like polenta all with tomato reduction. The the... More
