Not my expectation of seafood

Upon arrival, customers travel a maze through the building to reach the hostess. I guess this is done in anticipation of a large crowd needing a queuing line? Friendly staff and quick to seat, large menu though everything is batter coated and fried. I had hoped to see options for grilled, boiling... read more

The seafood is consistently good and always tastes freshly prepared. Every meal comes with a free trip to the salad bar, which is a good perk. The green shrimp, fillet of flounder, and even the chicken tenders are our usual favorites. Just don't order the fantail shrimp--one of the waitstaff told us that's the only seafood they serve that is... More

I am from the area, however, I live out of town now. Whenever I come into town I try to make it a point to come here to eat. Love the atmosphere, love the salad bar and the food.

Didn't remotely live up to any of its hype. The food was truly bland and awful & the atmosphere was overwhelmingly depressing. Wanted to give the food back!

So let me start by saying I have eaten at Cpts Cap on numerous occassions and it has been fairly good. Most recently not. On our most recent trip just this past Saturday my husband ordered the fried scallops wirh fries and I the fried oysters with baked potato. All meals come with a salad bar that is kept replenished... We have been to Captain's Cap in Denver NC several times over the years and 5 times in the last 3 months. We like the salad bar which is a nice feature. We always enjoy the seafood with various friends, and the service always great. I have read some critical reviews about the food and service, and I can honestly... More

Typical inland, chain seafood eatery. They have other options on the menu besides fish. Portions were good and food was well prepared. They were busy and drinks were allowed to run out. Seemed like regulars got a little more attention. I understand this, but less chit-chat might have left time for better service to the first time visitor.

My mother and I usually eat at Captain's Cap about every month or two. Great salad bar, I love the broiled scallops, they have a great flavor, and the serving is plentiful. I tried the baby flounder, it had an okay taste, I prefer the baby flounder from Safari Miles right down the road, which is excellent.
