This relatively new addition to the NC scene (first restaurant in 2005) is definitely of the barbecue emporium mold, offering a variety of smoked meats, and in copious amounts. There are now 5 locations, with the recent openings in Greenville and Fayetteville. This is a sports bar, upscale biker bar, good friends and family all around kind of place - large... More

Sometimes spotty on service, but the Mac and Cheese and Beer can chicken makes a pretty good meal in a sports bar atmosphere. Of course, nothing stopping you from having a beer and watching a game for dessert.

I recently moved to the Mooresville area and I've been searching for some "real" BBQ since I figured I was now living in a area where that was part of the local cuisine. Interestingly enough, good BBQ has been one of the hardest things to find in this area, until I tried Mac's Speed Shop. I often compare BBQ places... More

Nice wide open feel inside, also good amount of outside seating with large fire ring for cooler nights. Frequent musicians playing lends a soulful feel to the excellent food, more than the typically bar/pub fare. Very quick service, although we were there early weekday evening. Good sized portions, good ribs, good BBQ, brisket a little dry, good burgers, fantastic onion... More

Had a great dinner with some great live music! I had the tacos and my husband the beer chicken. The food was fresh, loved the sauce options and filled us up. Great atmosphere! Wishing they had one in Cleveland because it's better than most BBQ joints.

Best grilled chicken wings anywhere. First they smoke 'em, then they finish 'em on the grill. Outstanding flavor. Have also had the ribs and burgers which were both excellent. I have yet to have a bad meal here. I wouldn't call it a "biker" atmosphere. It's more like a family friendly biker atmosphere. Lots of different types of people eat... More

On our drive from FL up to visit friends in WV, we stopped at a Comfort Inn in Cornelius, NC, north of Charlotte. Not more than 100 feet from the inn was Mac's Speed Shop, which I did not, at first, realize was a restaurant. Upon further investigation, we discovered otherwise, and had a great meal as a result. Nothing... More

I was invisible to wait staff. It was like I had on a cloaking device. After 15 minutes I got up and left. It was not the first time I have gone in there, but it will be the last.

The sausage sampler was excellent. The burgers and fried catfish platters were delicious and with great portions. The hush puppies were excellent. Service was great.

Don't get me wrong. I love all styles of BBQ except SC because I have never gotten used to mustard bases sauces on BBQ. The BBQ is very good but more Texas Style. A number of prok dishes on the menu but emphasis is on beef which puts it in the Texas or Kansas City type. Sauce, presentatiion etc would... More
