A proper 'Irish' bar

Like most cities in the US (and the world), Charlotte has several 'Irish' bars - but it is important to highlight that putting a neon shamrock sign outside does not make your bar Irish (note to the Selwyn Avenue Pub), nor does giving the bar a gaelic name (note to Ri Ra). What makes a bar Irish is... read more

We stopped in on a recommendation from another wait person at Dandelion. Great JOINT. Good Irish beer. Outdoor garden. Games to play.

Great bar, we were upstairs for a gathering before a Friday night wedding. The owner Tommy was a fantastic host and all of his staff were top notch. Downstairs was also full on this Thursday night and with all of the choices in downtown Charlotte it is obvious this is one of the hot spots for the people downtown. Hope... More

This is a great watering hole! The patio is comfortable and quiet (when music is not playing!) The Staff is friendly and accommodating. The selection of Irish beers is good. the general atmosphere in the bar is welcoming.

Cool bar with a total Irish atmosphere and what I consider a soccer bar. They don't serve food but you are encouraged to bring your own or have something delivered. Outside area with tables and corn hole.

if you've been to an urban irish bar, then you know what to expect. Rustic decor, definitely intended to look older than it is. Irish bartenders and Irish food/drinks. You'll get that here. While the drinks are slightly over-priced, they are very good. Its worth a stop, and know that this place gets VERY crowded on Thurs/Fri nights (and some... More

Went with a group after just arriving to town for a party later that eve. We wanted a late lunch and drinks before the evening, so it was empty (3pm) and the staff was busy preparing for the assumed Friday after work crowds. One understandable negative, the waitress was not as present as desired, but all good. My black and... More

For me, this is the best Irish pub in Charlotte. The staff (bartenders) are very friendly and quick with a joke. Also, they remember repeat customers so you always feel welcome and at home. And, most importantly, they pour an outstanding Guinness!

This and RiRa hold the Irish title in mid town Charlotte. RiRa has better furnishings. Connolly's seems to have a younger and a more fun crowd. Can't go wrong either place
