I love the fried chicken and onion rings, my husband has to at least have a bite of the burgers and my little one is all for the fries and shakes. The service is great we recommend.

I talked my whole family into trying this place out after reading all the great reviews. Sadly, it was a very big letdown. The food was really nothing special at all...bun was stale, burgers dry and flavorless, gross shredded lettuce. Worst coleslaw ever....milkshake?--bad! I just do not understand how this place has been open since 1955 and hasn't figured out... More

I have been to South 21 with my family several times, and look for opportunities to go back. I love the drive-in experience, and can't get enough of their burgers and hamburger steak. Bring a tray from home to put your plate on, and you'll avoid a mess.

After seeing South 21 on Burgerland we knew we had to try it. The burgers were big and tasty. The onion rings were the best I ever had! The intercom system was really staticky and hard to hear but other than that it was an awesome old school drive in experience. We would eat here again!

My wife, son and I stopped in and had cheese burgers and a chicken dinner. The food was great. It no wonder they have been open since 1955. The server that brought the food to our car was very friendly and polite. I really like the touch of the staff wearing fedora hats it lends to times gone by. We... More

Had been wanting to visit this Charlotte institution since was featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins & Dives. Finally had a chance to try it out and was not disappointed, burger was good, my husband also had a hot dog and he was happy with it, but the onion rings were the star of the show. Will visit again when in the... More

The place fronts a very busy highway with construction, at least for now, across the street so getting into the place can be kind of tricky. If you're looking for an old drive burger joint then this spot will be right up your alley. The onion rings are some of the best I've ever had for the simple fact that... More

We looked for this diner after seeing it on Triple D. We got a cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. It was very good and I'd like to go back. We visited later than the Aug 2012 date, just forgot to rate it.

This is an old curb service restaurant that has been in Charlotte for decades. They specialize in B-B-Q, hamburgers and fries made the old fashioned way and have lots of other sandwich choices, fish and home made chili. The waiters are very friendly and have been working there for a long time. You can eat in you car or take... More

It is comforting to "go back in time" when you pull in to a parking slot, order one's food by talking into a speaker that is attached to a food service tray and have your food delivered to your car by a long time employee. Living near the area, I have been able to enjoy the experience from time to... More
