Very conveniently located just across the street from the Blumenthal Center. The sign said they had the best burger in Charlotte, so I got one. I wouldn't say it was the best burger I've ever had, but it was very good and reasonably priced. We got there just before the lunchtime business crowd. Our service wasn't great, but they were... Been going here off and on for years. Not much has changed except the staff. Smallish place. Good food and good for lunch. Never had anything that was bad but my favorite is the philly style steak sub. In late afternoon and evening turns in to more of a bar but can still get food until about 10 PM or... More

For anyone from the Northeast or Midwest who knows what a real tavern or pub is, you won't be disappointed by Phil's. It's got that old time, low rent (meant in a good way), sit there all day drinking, kind of feel. And the best part is, the food ain't half bad either!! Extensive menu choices. Price wise they're very... More

This place has been around forever. The decor is old and low end (just as it should be for a NY deli, though some updates would be nice.) The food is, well, deli food. Good deli sandwiches, knishes, and other deli favorites. (Some meats are kosher, but this is NOT a kosher deli) Personal favorite -- Reuben sandwich with onion... More

Quick and attentive staff. They brought the wrong appetizer which was the fried pickles and we were so glad they did! They were the best in town. And while we told them not to bring the other appetizer, they insisted. Great service. Beer was cold and sandwiches good! Sportsbar atmosphere.

If there was a negative rating I could give, I would! I did not enjoy my lunch experience today because a roach crawled onto my table. After the roach resurfaced, the kind waitress came over and killed it, she was very apologetic. It was a young roach so you KNOW there must be others somewhere. BUT hold on, to top... More

The bar scene is good but nothing too special. There is a fair amount of different beers on tap, but nothing crazy. Also, it's worth noting that liquor drinks (ie: scotch on the rocks) come out in plastic glasses - yes, even at 5 p.m., not just past midnight. The food here isn't so great. In fact, it's not even... Their sandwiches are filled to the brim with deliciousness, and while I'm convinced it's a brothel on the side - given their wait staff, I really like this place. You go Phil!
