I took my adult daughter here for a lunch of home cooking. We both had chicken and dumplings and two sides and iced tea. We shared one banana pudding. Our meal was very good, however, i was shocked at the cost. Including tip (probably 18%) our bill was $36.00. I feel that is way too much for a lunch of... More

The Charlotte Cafe is a throwback to the cafés of yesterday with good comfort food and attentive waitresses. This is my elderly aunt's (78) favorite spot to eat and a group of five of us had a delightful lunch here on a late Sunday morning. We requested and were given a private dining room so we could dine and visit... More

Walked in and the place full but not packed. Sat down and looked at the menu and my mouth began to water! I ordered the cabbage and corn beef, carrot salad, pinto beans and corn bread with hot green tea. It tasted as good as I expected it too. I took a picture after my first bite of each item.... More

Charlotte Cafe has been around a long time. It is a bit pricey for the standard Southern meat and three but it is in Charlotte after all and the cornbread, collard greens, okra and tomatoes, baked apples bring good memories. But now I have a very bad memory. I went out of my way to go there in order to... More

I recently had breakfast at the Charlotte Cafe twice this past July and both times the food was fantastic, with huge servings, and the service was friendly. The scrambled eggs and corned beef hash are very good. And the biscuits are wonderful, flaky, large and homemade. The meal was filling and kept me satisfied all day. The staff is very... More

This is for their place at the Arboretum. The quality of the food is horrible;bland and overpriced. A side of canned pintos submerged in sauce is $1.95. Anything on the menu is cheap in quality and overseasoned. The prices are absurd for what you get. But lately the place has been so dirty, I would not recommend it to anyone.... More

Had a great breakfast this morning. No fuss. Just eggs done as ordered, plenty of hot coffee, grits, link sausage and a nice fluffy biscuit all for 5.95 plus tax and tip. Service was excellent. Highly recommend for breakfast.

When you're in the mood for a good meat-and-two meal, this is the place to go. Their grilled fish and the calabash shrimp are always good. And don't miss the mac-and-cheese or the cornbread. This is a great place for taking the kids.

Charlotte Cafe is a solid neighborhood "meat and two vegetables" place. Southern version of the NY diner. Good breakfasts. Service can be a little slow at times, but the food is good. It's popular for everything from morning business meetings over breakfast to family dinners with kids (they have a back room for larger parties as well).

If you're looking for a good breakfast that is under $10, then this is your place. Greek omelette and salmon scramble were great and the crispy livermush was very good. There are plenty of snooty breakfast spots around where a meal for two can approach $40 so it's nice to find a spot that is good and easy on the... More
