Authentic

First truly "authentic" Soul Food stop in a long, long time. We had Fried Whiting, Salmon, Shrimp plus cornbread, green beans, and also mac and cheese with a plate of fried green tomatoes to start...and it was "smack yo mama" good! Service was downright AWESOME. My only disappointment was the... read more

Food was good but our service was amazing. Drinks were always full (big thing to me) and the cornbread was awesome. The atmosphere was very cool and family oriented. We would definitely return!

If you want some real food please visit Merts! This place is a relaxed dining option in Uptown. I had the fried catfish and my husband had the chicken tenders! Was amazing! Shanice, our server was great!!! Will come again, I tasted the chicken tenders and I wanted to change my order! The food was great!

Staying in Charlotte at the Aloft at the Epicenter for the Spirit of Hope Nationals (Cheer Competition.) After hiking several blocks to find several chain restaurants in the area closed on a Sunday morning, we were referred here by a very friendly clerk at Walgreens. This restaurant is five stars across the board! Food, service, atmosphere--perfect. We ordered from the... More

Classic soul food. Service is sometimes slow. The food can be great sometimes but bleach at other times. Still a great place to visit.

My bf and I like to take random road trips and stop wherever we end up. We live in the High Point area and decided to ride out to Charlotte. He looked on Tripadvisor and saw this place and we were very surpised overall from the restaurant. The inside is like and elcletic grandma's house but still quaint and cozy.... More

Had a really good meal here last month. The salmon cakes were very tasty and my favorite part was the delicious cornbread. Very attentive waitress and a good atmosphere too,

I really wanted to fall in love with Mert's. I had read a lot of great things about it, and I was certainly impressed with how much this restaurant supports the local community. However, we were a bit disappointed in the quality of our meals. The pulled pork BBQ was really, really greasy, the collard greens were way to garlicky,... More

What a great authentic southern home style restaurant. Food out of this world and fun staff. Everyone from jet setters, to tourists, to locals, to "famous football players." Comfortable and cozy. Great value.

If your craving a taste of Southern Soulfood, then is one of the top spots to go in Charlotte. If you don't eat soulfood here when your in Charlotte, don't ever ask for any. It speaks for itself. Old fashion style, limited seating, small quarter spacing (love it), and the food, dessert, and even the smell is to die for.... More
