I'm rating Mert's a 2 because the food was ok but the service was awful. My husband and I visited Mert's last weekend after Church. We placed our order and patiently waited for the food to arrive. When the young lady brought the food out, she asked "who had the home fries" and my husband said "I did". Of course... More

Sat at the counter and felt like I was eating at a friend's house. Staff would always come by to see how I was doing. I never felt alone, yet I had plenty of time to devour the great food. Ordered the fried chicken, which was nicely fried and not too greasy (although you can see that they fry them... More

A very long wait and limited seating, but it was well worth the wait. I would classify this as upscale healthier "soul food". The staff was very friendly and the service was very quick. A great place to go for brunch

Exactly what we expected andthis is THE place to go when you are hungry! Feeling at home at the first step in the restaurant, friendly staff, they really care about you and make you feel comfortable! The food is tasty, certainly all (or almost) home-made, big plates and delicious cornbread served with the entree, and the chocolate cake is delicious!... More

Comfort food at it's finest. You cannot go wrong with any menu item. The seating is tight which is one reason for the usual short wait.

I had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer then fried chicken, collard frees, mac and cheese, yams and cornbread for the main course. I wanted desert but there was no way possible to fit desert in but I would recommend trying to save room.

Overall, the food was pretty good. You walk in and are immediately hit by the smell of cooking collard greens. I would suggest NOT ordering anything with alcohol in it. I realize that this place doesn't have a bar scene, but two people in my party ordered beers and they came out pretty warm (like they had been sitting out... More

Our group especially went to this place after seeing it on a previous trip. It looked like a fun, little soul food hang out, and it was. We went on a Monday night and it was packed. We had to wait at least an hour for our food, and because she was new, the server wasn't always on top, but... More

This little "soulful" charmer was recommended to me by the hotel staff as a great breakfast place and they were right. It is the perfect place to get country ham, eggs, grits, biscuits OR outstanding omelettes, pancakes, etc...So, good, I ate there both mornings for breakfast I was in Charlotte. The restaurant looks like it has some outstanding soul food... More
