After a Friday night Hornets basketball game, my finance and I were actually headed to another restaurant when we happen to stumble upon Mert's. We looked into the restaurant, read the description of the food on the window and both looked at each other like "yes!" We were not disappointed! We were seated immediately and we had the nicest server.... More

You have to try the cornbread and the green fried tomatoes. I'm not American so I had no idea that these dishes existed... now I'm in love with this kind of food!

Ordered the Salmon cakes that were, to my east coast taste, surprisingly spicy but interesting. Corn bread was fresh, hot and delicious. Over all recommended place to try local food.

I have been here several times and have had great experiences but today the service was less than great. The waitress forgot my drink after asking for it three times, she was slightly rude and ignored us the majority of our visit. This is not the norm. The food is always awesome, the corn bread is a must!

Yes, Mac and Cheese can be a vegetable! I loved the collard greens, green beans, black eyed peas, corn bread, chicken, salmon patties, banana pudding, and corn bread. Great location, excellent service, nice staff. Great place for southern cooking and wide variety

We did dinner her for my birthday, it was just fantastic. The staff was friendly and so warming. The atmosphere was laid back and so relaxing we ended up staying 45 after we finish eating. I will be back real soon.

Enjoyed the menu and southern flavors A very good spot in the middle of the city, can get busy, but worth the wait.

This restaurant has a chance to be something special but it is not. I have actually been eating here off and on for 15 years. I go there out of lack of diversity and presence of another soul-food restaurant. The quality of the food is very basic and you don't get wowed. For the price it is not bad at... More

Yes, this place sometimes doesn't get it totally right (more often than not the servers are less than attentive), but the food is typically good to sometimes really good. The last time we were there (about two weeks ago) we were running late getting into town for a show and picked it because we generally know what to expect. I... More
