Great Soul Food

This is a fun restaurant, reasonably priced with great food. I had the white fish which was delicious. It was hard to choose a side! All looked so good. The others in my party loved their food as well. Except for the fact that the food came out so fast that the chicken was a bit undercooked... read more

Decided to come here with my boyfriend when visiting Charlotte for a weekend getaway for his birthday. It was the first restaurant we decided to try and I was not impressed. I ordered the fried whiting and it was extremely salty, if I had blood pressure problems it would've been through the roof! Also ordered yams and green beans. The... More

This is food my Mother used to cook! GREAT Fried Chicken, wonderful Turnip Greens and THE BEST Cornbread I have ever had in my life! People around me were enjoying the food and all had large portions. Service is very personal and very good. THIS IS A WINNER! If you are in Downtown Charlotte, or as they like to say,... More

This place is amazing. There's a line. It's not fancy. But oh my is it good. I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for fried chicken. And this was fried just right. The mac & cheese was just awesome. The greens were perfect. And the cute little loaf of corn bread was well worth the wait. It's good old home cooking... More

Located downtown the outside seating has a great view of the skyline and foot traffic. Tonight we eat lightly after a hockey game. enjoyed their soul rolls whish were exquisite. .. a unique variation of egg rolls. The corn bread were amazing!! The chicken soup was good and hit the spot after a cold evening at the ice rink

Friday afternoon lunch just before noon. We had not been in over 2 years. Not to crowded, We sat outside table was very wobbly and chairs not so comfortable. Drinks came within a reasonable amount of time. Buddy got a square of cornbread with butter, he said it was good. We ordered me a Chicken Tender Poor Boy other person... More

And thats a good thing. We went on a sunday ncaa weekend and it was jammed the entire day and night. The cornbread was the best I have ever had and the mac and cheese was as close to my grandma's as I have ever had. The carmel cake was just ridiculously delicious. The only thing I'd say is be... The food is top-notch and the service is down-home southern. Though the popularity of the place makes it relatively crowded. The tables are close together too, so it's not the best place for a lunch meeting.

Visited here before seeing a musical at Blumenthal. The macaroni and cheese and corn bread is some of the best I have ever had. This is a must visit if you want a good taste of southern and soul food!
