Took my car in to have the tires looked at and they suggested this place for lunch as I had to wait. I am glad they did. The BBQ is vinegar based which is a little different than what I am use to. I ordered the chicken and it was very tasty. To be honest I had to ask for... More

I'm no BBQ snob, I don't smoke my own meat....etc. I'm just am average joe that likes all kinds of BBQ. That being said, If I didn't know better, I'd swear some of these reviews aren't real. Bills is easy to find and has this legendary status, but I don't get it. The meat has zero flavor whatsoever. I tried... More

I was in Charlotte visiting a friend over the weekend and they kept saying how good Bill Spoon's was, how popular it is, etc, so we decided to give it a try for lunch at noon on Thursday. I ordered the sandwich plate which included a chopped pork sandwich, coleslaw (on the sandwich), hushpuppies, baked beans, and then a slice... More

Ate here recently on a business trip after some locals took us here. I wasn't overly impressed, nor was my business partner. As many have said vinegar based BBQ, which is fine but absolutely nothing special. Service was adequate, free hush puppies, which were good. Paper plates and napkins -so think picnic or outdoor family BBQ. Next time in Charlotte... More

I visited this restaurant today and had the barbecue sandwich along with french fries and they gave complimentary hushpuppies. The sandwich was eastern style which was very good as well as the hushpuppies and fries. I will visit again and recommend this restaurant. I had takeout and it came quick.

I live in Eastern NC and have had vinegar based barbeque hundreds of times at many places. This compared to them was not even average. There was nothing special at all. The barbecue was dry, it had flavor that didnt even compare to Smithfields ( a chain). The baked beans although I was told were jazzed up, I dont think... More

Basic, simple restaurant with great barbecue. I had a large BBQ plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's shredded pork with a basic vinegar sauce - extra sauce is available on the table. You get a basket of hush puppies when you order. They have a little bit of onion flavor that makes them more interesting than a basic hush puppy... More

If you're a fan of NC style BBQ, this Charlotte institution cannot be missed! It's been there since 1963! The pork BBQ plate was delicious. I live the home style atmosphere, checked table clothes. The waitstaff was incredibly nice, but seemed a little understaffed at lunch time. The BBQ chicken was nice (my friend had that plate).

Eastern NC barbecue is my favorite, and Spoon's hits the spot. The barbecue and slaw are just-right tangy, and the hush puppies are delicious. I'm not a fan of their Brunswick Stew, though, so I order slaw as my first and second sides. The interior hasn't changed much since opening in the 60s, but it remains a comfortable dining spot...
