Perhaps our expectations were too high for this upscale seafood house. Some of the food was very good, and some was strickly average. The shrimp lettuce wraps were plentiful and very good. and the crab cake appetizer was also good but small. Both the Wild Sea Bass and the whole fish special were OK, but the cream brulee was excellent.... More

I went to Upstream last sunday as part of the restaurant week at Charlotte. It was a lovely experience. For starters had the lettuce wrapped shrimps and crab cakes. The shrimps had a light mustard seed coating and were good. The crab cakes were fresh and delicious. For main course we had the cashew nut crusted trout and prawns with NC Grouper. The trout... More

Upstream is an upscale dining experience, but their take on restaurant week was not so good. They offered a salad, main course and desert for $30. The caviet was that only four main course items were offered at that price. Their kicker was that you could "upgrade" to an appetizer from salad for $4 more, and you could upgrade to... More

We went to this restaurant for Charlotte's restaurant week. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful. She reserved a space for us, even though the website said they were full. We mentioned that it was our anniversary and she congratulated us and gave us a little souvenir. The waiter seemed like he had to be there and did not "want" to... More

Lights and floating leaves above your head in this restaurant...because you are 'under the water.' We started with calamari and scallops, then I had the mountain trout. Nice French red wine that wasn't too expensive. Dessert was berry cobbler with ice-cream. Great service, delicious food. Would recommend this place for a special occasion for a couple, or for a few... More

Took my wife and parents to Upstream Saturday night after getting some recommendations from friends here in Charlotte. Man where they right. Absolutely hands down one of the best dining experiencing I have had in Charlotte. 1. It was raining out when we arrived but the valet guys appeared quickly and with umbrellas and got everyone in safe and dry... More

We were here as a group of six. The service was very good. The menu is dominated by seafood and the choices are plentiful. The Sea bass is the specialty and it is outstanding. The wine selection has a broad range of price choices. The atmosphere is easy to have a conversation.

Having eaten at Upstream before and having been generally satisfied, the Father's Day Brunch (2014) was a bit of a disappointment. The buffet had a reasonable variety, but certainly far from an impressive one. The "tapas:" that came with it, on order, were fair: a crab cake eggs benedict took forever to come. When questioned the waited said "the chef... More

The atmosphere and service was excellent, however, I was not impressed with the quality of food that was served. First of all, Upstream is a very expensive restaurant because they claim to have the freshest fish in North Carolina. I am from New England and absolutely love seafood, so I was excited to hear this. Although the food was presented... More
