Malabar is a member of the Conte Group of restaurants in Charlotte. It is a block away from the Blumenthal theater, making it a perfect stopping place for big or little appetites before a show or after a workday. The meatballs and chorizo tapas are my favorites, but my husband loves the potato one. The sangria is freshly made and... More

What a wonderful experience we had during last week's "Girls' Night out" with great friends. Malabar was easy to find and so accommodating ; I can't wait to go back. The menu is a great mix of familiar and interesting combinations, we had fun trying more than 10 dishes. The tabla de quesos kicked off our dinner with unique flavors.... More

Business cocktails, appetizers for dinner. There were 8 of us.. We order shrimp, calamari and pretty much everything on the appetizer menu. All average and not enough for me to fill full. It was just okay. Wouldn't go back.

I'd say that this is one of true tapas restaurant in Charlotte. Serving size and flavors are spot-on. No frou-frou stuff; just unadulterated good food. My fave: Cheese platter, calimari, steak w/chimichurri, sausage in chickpeas, anchovies, and of course dessert. I had the churros y chocolate and it was freakin' awesome! Service: Top notch.

MALABAR From: patiolady321@hotmail.com To: patiolady321@hotmail.com Subject: Spanish??? Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2014 16:59:21 +0000 This Spanish restaurant was an upscale tapas bar. There is a bar, but patrons are seated at tables and on wall lined pillowed cushions. The walls are warm and enticing in colors of red, orange, and dark brown. The lighting fixtures enhance the ambiance of the... More

We had dinner in Charlotte on a beautiful summers day at Malabar and we enjoyed the outdoor seating available at this tapas bar. We ordered several dishes from the menu. Churrasco, Grilled Skirt Steak, Chimichurri, GarbanzoSauteed Chickpeas, Spinach, Saffron and the Pulpo, Grilled Octopus, Potatoes, Olives. All the dishes were very good and abundant for a tapas bar. We ordered... More

This is worthy of being a top restaurant....will return to this place time & time again! So many interesting things to try.My partner and I had considerable trouble deciding on what we wanted to eat....so many appetizing plates to choose from. We eventually selected Tabla De Emputidos(selection of meats),Tortilla de Asparagus(Asparagus omelette) & Albondigas(meatballs)....this was more than ample food for... More

This is a great find of tapas in uptown CLT. Great selection of tapas at great prices. The servings are quite generous, so at the end of the day it is a bargain. Service is great and very personable. Great atmosphere, a must try!

This is a difficult restaurant to review. The service was excellent and we enjoyed every food item we had, but it was $70 for a very small amount of food. If you don't mind dropping that kind of money on a meal that will leave you hungry again in an hour, this place is wonderful. For us, it was a... More

On a recent overnight trip to Charlotte, my boyfriend and I were exploring the neighborhood around our hotel (Westin) in uptown. We started getting hungry and checked out a few places before stumbling across Malabar, tucked in a little corner spot. The menu looked appealing so we decided to try it out. The interior is small, but high ceilinged and... More
