Description: Under the direction of Executive Chef Chris Coleman, The Asbury is a modern southern restaurant that honors the past, celebrates the seasons, and looks forward. Named in honor of Louis Asbury, Sr., the Charlotte architect who designed the Mayfair Manor-now The Dunhill Hotel-in 1929, The Asbury celebrates the best of what the South has to offer in ingredients, technique, creativity, and, of course, hospitality. The Asbury is a tribute to Chef Coleman's southern roots and the culturally diverse community of the New South from which he draws inspiration. At The Asbury, Chef Coleman creates menus and meals that are uniquely Carolinian: modern but rustic, evolving but still rooted in classics, southern and welcoming. There is a strong tie to heirloom ingredients native to our area, lost to time and modernization, as well as specialty items grown by small, family farms throughout the region. Chef Coleman searches out the best quality he can find-much of it coming from within the local region. The Asbury serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The Dunhill Hotel Bar features a selection of bar bites by Chef Coleman daily as well. In addition to the ground floor restaurant space, The Asbury caters unique, private dining experiences and hosts special events throughout its intimate second floor.

Unbelievably delicious! Eclectic modern twist on Southern fare. Chef Chris creates a masterpiece with food that would really be hard to mimic. It is our new fave restaurant.

We arrived in Charlotte from England for two nights and found this restaurant by pure chance on 4th July. What a find it proved to be. I loved the fact that i had never heard of, let alone tasted, at least half the things on the menu - bacon jam, iron cast drop biscuit, fish "bacon" and so on. All Southern... More

My husband and I went here for brunch. The deviled eggs were the best we've ever had. He had the pork belly benedict; he liked it but loved the grits. I had the gravy biscuits and French onion soup. Both were divine! The best part for me though was the Bloody Mary bar. They bring you the vodka and then... More

Dined at Asbury on a whim. Farm to table food served was delicious, creative modern southern served by knowledgeable and very attentive staff. We had table side ceviche and fresh oysters to start followed by a black grouper dish and a crab topped with slow cooked perfectly poached egg over risotto dish. Both entrees had delicate touches of sides that... More

The food was really good, I had the "Chicken + Dumplings" and Cindy had the "Grouper with Wild Rice and Toasted Pecan Pilaf". They were both excellent. It is a small sitting, when we arrived (at 5:30pm), there was only one other couple but by 6pm it was almost full. When it was full it was very loud.

I should preface this review with the fact that I love modern southern food. I blame that on having one grandmother who cooked exciting, "fancy" dishes from Southern Living every holiday and one grandmother who made homemade biscuits in an iron skillet, leaving the bottoms fried and crunchy. Therefore, I found my two meals at The Asbury dining heaven. We... More

Went there for a mid-afternoon drink and snack. They were extremely busy and the wait staff had trouble keeping up with the needs of the patrons. That aside, the drinks were excellent and the hummus was also excellent. Looking forward to returning for dinner.

Some friends and I were in Charlotte on business and decided to eat here. We sat at a table out on the sidewalk and the atmosphere was great. Food was very good and the service was excellent. Would dine here again when visiting Charlotte.

My wife and I dined at The Asbury in April 2014. I had booked a room at the Dunhill Hotel and decided, for convenience sake, to make a reservation at The Asbury since it sits adjacent to the hotel. As of 05/01/14 their website has not been updated. It lists the winter menu. In fact, as of two weeks ago,... More

We had two opportunities to visit Asbury on our recent trip to Charlotte. Our hotel choice was The Dunhill, and The Asbury is located off the main lobby. Dinner before the ballet was our choice, and The Asbury offers early seating which suited our schedule perfectly. We could easily eat there for a week. All of the items were so... More
