Great concept, friendly staff, great location and food!

Great ground-level patio view of downtown Charlotte, eclectic decor inside with a little bakery. We ordered the lunch portion chicken with vegetables and mac and cheese for sides (the mac and cheese was homemade style and amazing!). Very nice meal. Lovely peach salad and pimento cheese spread for appetizer. Not very many customers which worried us at first but don't let that scare you away.

We read about this restaurant online. Their profits go to help the less fortunate in Charlotte. They also hire people that need help. A great concept. The service was great, everyone friendly. Manager came around several times. The food was delicious, very much like home cooking. Fried chicken was just like my Mama's. Banana pudding was outstanding. Please try it.... More

What a great idea. A nonprofit restaurant with great food and great customer service. Way to go Charlotte. That city has so much to offer.

Recommended by hotel staff and we were not disappointed! Service was great: staff very friendly and the manager visited each table and chatted with the guests. Menu items seem a bit limited but if you enjoy southern fare this is the place. Very tasty and large portions. We needed a to-go box and could not eat dessert!

Maybe it was the time of the day, but I was disappointed. Corn bread was hard. Yams were cold. Nobody else complained, so I kept quiet. It was 2:30, and they close at 3 for lunch.

The Kings Kitchen is a great concept and I was excited and anxious to dine here. I got their signature dish the fried chicken with collard greens, Mac n cheese and creamed corn with corn bread. My friend had basically the same. I want to tell you that it was one of the best meals in Charlotte but it was... More

I love this restaurant for many reasons: they are a non profit, 100% of the proceeds go to feed the hungry in and around Charlotte, NC; the food is wonderful, southern cuisine is wonderful and you must try the coconut cake; the servers are delightful and will bend over backwards for you as evidenced in my last visit. I ordered... More

This is a happy place. This concept in a restaurant (truly offering a Hand UP) is reason enough to check it out, but the friendly, knowledgeable staff and AMAZING food are the reasons I will be back! Thank you to our kind and attentive waiter, with his vast knowledge of the menu and beer offerings, and to the brilliant minds... More

This is a lovely restaurant. I won't explain its cause - you can read that elsewhere. But everything we experienced here was awesome. The waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. The food, very hearty and filling, was delicious. Mac and cheese, fried chicken, fried oysters - this is not a meal for those counting... More
