I have to admit that I only had 3 items. The bread, which had a nice crust and soft middle. The Lima beans weren't over cooked like most places serve them. And the shrimp and grits were savory, out of this world! The ultimate comfort food. :-) I also had a blond ale on tap, very nice. The staff were... More

We went to King's Kitchen for Valentines Day. We had heard good things about the special-concept restaurant and wanted to check it out for ourselves. The restaurant has a great location in uptown and the interior is very poshly decorated. Our waiter was really nice and they had Hershey kisses on everyone's plates for Valentines Day (nice touch). The food... More

This restaurant was recommended to me during a business trip to Charlotte. I understand that it's a nonproit that provides work training and experience to people in transition, or something along those lines. Which I fully support in theory, but only if the food is good. And the food was great. The skillet-fried chicken was amazing. I finally understand why... More

Finally after several experiences downtown Charlotte I made a decision to stop by this restaurant. After a warm welcome from the owner I had the possibility to taste the real american cuisine. The food is good, well cooked and served quickly. The prices are reasonable and the hosts are always near to you ready to satisfy your requests. In summary... More

I had lunch at The King's Kitchen for the first time yesterday. I had the skillet fried chicken - dark meat - with 3 sides (Mac n cheese, Mash potatoes, creamed corn) and a biscuit. The chicken was delicious! That gets an A. The mac n cheese and mash potatoes were a little on the salty side (I am not... More

Had a solo meal here just a week ago. Asked the server for her recommendations on food and beer, and it was excellent. It has been a long time since I had a meal where i used the bread to soak up every last bit of juice on my plate...

Great place to try once. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Not exactly the place to go for a romantic evening out - the lighting a little too bright. Need to dim the lights and add candles and soft music or even a live musician to create more of an evening presence. Multiple tables empty on a weekend for dinner. And... More

We were staying in Charlotte for one night (after a week in MB) as we were flying home out of CLT. It was about 7pm, and with a hungry wife and two young daughters in tow I had to choose something fast. Jumped on Yelp & TripAdvisor and his place caught my attention. I booked a 8:30pm reservation via OpenTable... More

Nice staff, busy environment. I had the fried chicken cooked well and enjoyed at the bar. Great atmosphere for any occasion.

Solid southern fare, nothing really jumps off the page at you. If not for the charitable cause, you would think the atmosphere is way to stuffy and the food way overpriced.
