We've tried several other Thai restaurants in Charlotte, all of which were dreadful. This restaurant (the Ballantyne location) was not only good for Charlotte, but good for upscale Americanized Thai anywhere (meaning that it's not a place filled with Thai speakers eating super-authentic food, but most diners don't really want that anyway). It's an attractive restaurant, with a great vibe,... More

Upon arriving in Charlotte ate at this slightly upscale Thai restaurant. The food was extremely tasty and the service was excellent. It offered up variations on many of the old familiar dishes.

Finally great Thai food at good prices...Appetizers and all we ate (curry chicken, pad thai, crab ran goons, etc) was perfect. I read some bad review in YELP but was still curious and had to go. I'm glad I went because it was perfect!

This restaurant was a surprise. It's rather hidden, but near the Settler's Cemetery and behind the Marriott. It's larger on the inside that it appears to be. Our waiter was excellent. Based on his recommendations, we ordered drinks (like a NC beer and an Asian Pear Martini) and lovely food. The dishes were not only fabulous - the presentation was... More

Our visit to Basil was a great experience. Waiter Brinson explained menu and answered all our questions clearly. Food was hot, delicious and enough for two. Try the wontons - so good! Parking deck nearby is reasonably priced.

Being new to Charlotte I searched for a reasonable Thai establishment, as it is one of our favorite cuisines. SO glad we gave this spot a chance. We arrived around 7:20 on a Friday night and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated, despite the place being packed. They do not accept reservations between the hours of 6:45 and... More

Went out with friends for dinner at Thai. I had the coconut soup and beef salad, since I was looking for Paleo friendly options. The coconut soup was plentiful and we shared it among 5 people. I thought the portions were all generous. We had all courses. Apps, dinner, dessert and great cocktails! The waitstaff seemed to work as team... More

Basil Thai has opened a second restaurant in Charlotte. It is housed where Jo Jo's Bistro used to be in Stonecrest Shopping Center (in Ballantyne). The food and service were great and I really liked how they lightened the atmosphere. Portion sizes were large as you would expect for an Asian Restaurant.
