First time in Chapel Hill and I was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu and selected a wonderful Cabarnet Franc that was enjoyed by all at the table. I was recently in Chapel Hill on a business trip, and we went to Elaine's following a recommendation from one of the local folks. We were all very impressed with our meals: they were absolutely delicious and very well presented! The service was excellent as well. We enjoyed it so much we ended up going back later in the week... In town on business and got a late start on dinner. Strolled into Elaine's on West Franklin, finding no tables open I decided to sit at the bar. The place is small but nice. Wine selection was good. The food was eclectic, seemed to have several styles all with a southern flair. Someone a few chairs down has the squash... More

We have enjoyed Elaine's many times over the years, usually for a special occasion. This event was for a birthday celebration. As on our prior visits, the Service was exemplary and the food was excellent. Our entrees included the lobster (no shell), duck breast, pork chop, and tuna. The shared desert arrived with a candle in recognition of our daughters... More

Recently four of us ate at Elaine's in Chapel Hill. Had not been there in quite a while so did not know if the food would still be very good. It was exceptionally good, beautifully prepared and presented with very attentive service. One of us chose an especially good red wine (do not remember the name). I do believe that... More

In a town with many really good places to eat, Elaine's truly stands out as one of our favorites. The menu supports local farms. Make reservations.

We are locals and have been going to Elaine's since it opened. Now, our 14 year old has grown a love for food, such as his father and I, so we have had the enjoyment of frequenting Elaine's more recently. We are always met with a smiling face and staff eager to help you. The wine list has many choices,... More

We really enjoy Elaine's. A reliable favorite in the area whenever we visit family. The menu seems to vary and uses local ingredients with great success. Friendly and professional service, too.

Elaine's is always good but in the summer it is particularly special. That is because of the abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other locally grown food. The Heirloom Tomato appetizer is one of the best appetizers of any restaurant. The chef seems to particularly become inventive when he has so many fresh items with which to prepare. Nice atmosphere,... More

Chic little restaurant on Franklin with a very nice ambiance and warm welcome. One of the best wine lists I have ever seen in this type of restaurant with prices going from the very modest to stratospheric for the absolute connoisseur. The variety was excellent and even the grape varietals are noted. Having $24-30 dollar bottles of wine available brings... More
