Fantastic meal, great service, local produce - a great choice when in Chapel Hill

Just happened to get lucky and visited Elaine's on Franklin during food week, so I had the food and wine pairing meal. We were staying at the Carolina Inn and wanted a place within walking distance. It is a lovely walk from the Inn to Elaine's - just about 10 minutes. The service was very friendly... read more

There are a couple of other places that get more press than Elaine's in Chapel Hill, but Elaine's is by far my favorite. It rates up there with a nice dining establishment in a bigger city, but still has a small, friendly feel. Not inexpensive. Modern American food, Innovative cooking and fine dining service, and a great wine list. This... More

My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Elaine's. The service was great and the food was delicious. We truly appreciated the advise in the wine pairing. We look forward to our next time there.

Fabulous food, caring staff. Best quality ingredients. They know what they are doing. Best bartender, Damon, in Chapel Hill.

Elaine's is unfailingly the best restaurant in Chapel Hill. Yes, it's expensive. But oh so worth it for the occasional special event. Went for an anniversary last week. Soft shell crab was outstanding. Entrees (duck, steak) were superb ("Best duck ever.") and inventive in presentation (Okra with steak?). Decadent dessert. Excellent wine list. Wait staff is perfectly trained.

So, we are locals and have loved Elaine's since it opened. Brett Jennings has always had an amazing menu and this month does not disappoint! We sat at the bar due to how busy they were (good for them) and our bartender, Damon (?), was excellent. Very attentive, yet not intrusive. We never wanted for anything and he was extremely... More

Made the reservation 2 weeks in advance and asked for a window table. Was told, "no problem". Called to confirm 2 days prior and again mentioned the window table request. Was told, "yes, we've made that note". When we arrived (exactly on time) it was obvious that both window tables were occupied. We told the hostess about our table request,... More

First time here and what a find! Will definitely be back when I come to RDU area in the future. Chicken entrée was superb. Thanks to all for a great dinner and evening

I have eaten at Elaine's over the years and read the current glowing reviews and made a reservation. We arrived at 6:15 p.m. for our reservation and were promptly seated. Our waiter came by right away with menus. When we didn't order any drinks, somehow we became persona non grata. We were offered no help with the menu, and not... More

Visiting the city from California. Lots of restaurants but this one rocks! Had local fish, caesar salad southern style and a homemade sorbet I would kill for. Good value, service and atmosphere. I would come back just for this restaurant.
