When I was a student here we would go here like twice a week. I have since brought my wife here many times on game days to experience this local delicacy.

When I'm craving Mexican this is the first place I think of to dine! The homemade salsa and chips are perfection and my favorite dish is Camarones Monterrey which is a dish loaded with large fresh shrimp cooked in a creamy and slightly spicy smoked chipotle pepper sauce with bacon. I alternate between ordering that and the Camarones A La... More

Since moving to the area we have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant and so far Monterrey is my favorite. They are certainly not the flashiest place I've been too but their food is very well made and the only thing I've had here that was not as good as I thought it could be was the chile releno... More

This is one of our top three Mexican restaurants in our area. The food is well prepared and salsa some of the best. Friendly staff and quick service. My husband always orders a chicken dish and I always order a burrito and always consistent and delicious.

We had dinner here as a family recently an our experience was poor. Food: Standard food, large portions and nothing special. Everything from the salsa and chips to the tacos and nachos were regular and plain. There was no real flavor. Ambiance: Standard taqueria decor, relatively clean, though it place is a bit dark. Service: Surprisingly the service is excellent!... More

Overall, not bad. Good chips and salsa. Quesadillas came out very soggy and put the overall rating if the restaurant down in my opinion. Good service.

Mexican restaurants can be hit-or-miss anywhere, but are especially dicey outside of the southwest. I'm always a little apprehensive to try new places on the East Coast. Monterrey, while not overly impressive, was perfectly acceptable. I can't say much about the atmosphere as we sat outside on a stormy day. I was with my brother and his two small children,... More

The salsa was a bit runny but had a good taste. The chimichanga tasted old like the chicken has been refrigerated for a day or perhaps 2. If the chicken has a fresher taste, the chimi would have been good, but as is, it was below average. The enchiladas were very good. So overall all I would rate this as... More

Yes, it's true. I am not exaggerating when I say I've been there over 100 times. I CRAVE MONTERRAY when I've been away for too long. It's the best authentic mexican food for SO cheap. Their chips and salsa are divine and their cheese dip takes the cake. Everything from their fajitas, enchilada, and arroz con pollo are AMAZING. Their... More

Having lived in Arizona for 29 years, I consider myself a Mexican food aficionado. After four years of trying various Mexican food restaurants in North Carolina and being disappointed, I finally found authentic Mexican food in Chapel Hill, North Carolina! My first gage was refried beans, theirs are seasoned perfectly had a creamy texture the way I like them. Next... More
