This has been a frequent stop for lunch when we're in Chapel Hill. Our most recent visit was for dinner and it was disappointing. None of us enjoyed our entrees. This was a surprise as we usually like Bandido's. I don't know if they've changed their recipes, were just overwhelmed with the crowd or what. But if it it's the... More

We had planned to get Mexican at a different restaurant, but when we ditched the movie part of dinner & movie night, decided we wanted to hang out on Franklin Street, and a friend had recommended a satellite location of this restaurant, so we tried it. It's in the alley where the Rat was. The food was very good Mexican,... More

Came in for a quick bite on a whim. Restaurant was clean and uncrowded, which was great. The service was polite, friendly, and VERY speedy. The food was pretty average, however. Salsa, queso dip, and black beans were good. I had veggie enchiladas in which the veggies were fresh and well-prepared, but the mole sauce on top was over-salted. Guacamole... More

My research group eats lunch here every week. The menu has variety, the dish design is tasteful, the service is swift, and the prices are quite reasonable.

How could you not like this place? Great location, great selection. Most of us got the fish taco's, and they nailed it. Best I have had outside of SoCal. Wide variety of salsa's and fresh chips, free iced teas with all of our lunch selections. Friendly service. Great all around!

Having lived in places like Texas, where Mexican food runs deep in most of its cities, I was skeptical of this cafe when I came to UNC to study. I can say, however, that this place certainly surpassed my expectations. I was surprised at the variety and prices of their foods; they also have some of the best mole enchiladas... More

I have been eating here since the family opened it in 1995 and loving it ever since. Although I have moved away from the area, I recently visited and ate here again. While the menu had been rearranged recently, the staff helped me find my stand-by favorite dish. I couldn't get enough and asked that they prepare me one "cold"... More

I used to love Bandidos years ago. A recent visit was disappointing to say the least. The salsa bar is a nice addition but there is too much gloppy cheese on everything (like other reviewers have noted). When I attempted to order a frozen margarita I get the answer that there are no frozen margaritas available that night. Not to... More

Salsa is great. Everything else is mediocre and tastes like it has been covered in american cheese. No steak.

Being in Chapel Hill for the afternoon with 4 friends we were looking for somewhere fairly quick to eat and for a fairly low cost. After looking at a lot of the nearby places and not being interested in many (except Top of the Hill, but their price scared one of our party away), we settled on Bandido's. Most of... More
