Salads are fresh, baked goods are very tasty. There is a somewhat different menu throughout the week. Any day is a good day at Foster's.

Best place in town for a casual lunch and baked goods. A lot of students here but there is always seating in and out.

I have been to Foster's Market in Chapel Hill twice. On my first visit I ordered a salad sampler with 3 different salads: Tuna, Potato and Caesar. None of the salads had any flavor, it was all very bland and at $9.95, not a bargain. The place is very charming, has a lovely patio and seems very popular, judging by... More

Love the whooper chocolate cookie decadent, with an Iced Coffee- fabu. They have great individual sized wood fired oven pizza, a special pizza each day I believe. They really seem to care about the food and the choices you have such as sandwich of the day, 2 soups - Chicken Orzo my fav mmmmmmm, 2 casserole type dishes - great... More

Been to both Fosters in Chapel Hill and Durham. The place is inviting and the food looks appealing yet its not outstanding.Good sandwiches.I did not like the coffee and the scrambled eggs were devoid of flavor and cold. The desserts scream eat me now! yet I wouldn't recommend them as they are hardly worth the calories.Nice assortment of prepared salads.Interesting farmhouse-ish decor... Is the restaurant as good as the Foster's Market cookbooks? Yes! It's lovely and funky and casual and affordable. We were there for lunch. Our sandwiches were very nice, made from highest-quality and freshest ingredients. What really hit this meal out of the ballpark: a slab o' carrot cake to share between the four of us. It was the Platonic... More

Driving through Chapel Hill I needed a place to stop and eat with my travel companion, Peaches the Dog, so I called Foster's and they said it was just fine to bring my dog, so I did! It was my first visit and I really wanted to try all of it. Chose the turkey, bacon, Brie and spinach sandwich grilled... More

Was introduced to Foster's after meeting friends there. It was a pleasant surprise due to eclectic mix or organic and alternative foods and other goods that were seemingly haphazardly arrayed throughout the interior, but in a way that made sense and invited you to explore every shelf and wall. I half expected to stumble on The Burning Man before I... More

I could eat at Fosters every day of the year and never get tired of it. Sarah's menus are amazing. The food is top quality and the prices are fair. Both locations are comfortable and the folks who work there are friendly.

I felt like I was back at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT and this was the local gathering spot. A long rectangle of a warehouse-like space with the food offerings lining one side, drinks and silverware at the back, coffee station in the middle with mis-matched tables and chairs all around. Books and jars of goodies line the other side.... More
