We ate outside on the balcony, which was lovely with the gentle breeze and view of some of Chapel Hill.

First time in chapel hill and this place did not disappoint. My biggest regret was I didn't get to try more of the menus. Beer wasn't a game changer but my ipa had a nice flavor and was very well priced. The outside patio has a great view of Franklin St and the overall bar was a good atmosphere. The... More

View was awesome. The food and service not so much! The waitress was not happy because "she was the only one serving table in the entire restaurant " it showed because our service was very poor never filled drinks or checked on us had to wait a very long time to catch her to get our check. The environment was... More

Nice outdoor rooftop seating but a little beat up for the prices. Friendly service served calorie-laden burgers, fries, chicken and nachos, but relatively ordinary. Fresh beer seemed to be the primary attraction.

While I understand the fuss about the scenic view offered by the restaurant - it really is spectacular, we were there at sunset and it was beautiful - but the food itself didn't live up to the hype we'd expected. The service was quite slow, and they didn't bring all of the cutlery necessary for all of us - granted... More

We visited TOPO for lunch. the Artichoke/Spinach dip was very good. One diner had the Caesar salad with shrimp and it was just ok. The other two had the pulled port sandwich. New to Eastern Carolina BBQ, this was a treat, but nothing exceptional. Now, the beer sampler was worth the $10. I sampled six 5-ounce glasses of their beers.... More

This is a unique restaurant with a brewery attached. It it located on the top floor of the building at Chapel Hill's main intersection (Franklin & Columbia Streets). It's balcony provides an excellent view of activities on the street below, particular;y when there is a celebration of any kind, such as a major UNC basketball or football victory! On such... More

Been there many times over the years as friends like to go there. Hit and miss. Mostly miss lately for the food. A good beer place as they make their own, but I think it stops there. Our most recent visit was very very average food. I had the jambalaya which might have been good, but as most Americans don't... More

Our grandson just graduated from UNC and our granddaughter is transferring there for the 2015-2016 school year. We thought it was appropriate to visit TOPO before classes began. The staff was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Everyone in our group tried something different, and each person was very satisfied. The food was tasty, served nice and warm and... I have eaten here many times since the brewery opened in 1996. The food is very good and the service has always been good as well. However, it was our most recent visit after a game when we were extremely impressed. We were with a party of 6 very happy Tarheels after a win and the restaurant was packed with... More
