I've been to Topo twice for lunch, and while I enjoy the atmosphere and food, the service always leaves something to be desired. As for the restaurant itself, it's great... a classic Chapel Hill spot with great views, and a big selection of drinks and foods. The day we went was sunny and gorgeous, so lots of customers wanted to... More

My wife and I visited this local brewery and restaurant on a recent trip to Chapel Hill, and what a great visit it was! All sorts of homemade craft brews, original mixed drinks. and a selection of top-notch American/Southern cuisine made for a delicious night. The sweet potato fries with cream cheese pepper jelly was an amazing appetizer. Great location... More

Very nice local microbrewery with a decent selection. It is at the corner where UNC celebrates their national championships and sits above the square, so it is a very nice location. The food is fairly standard pub food, and the prices are reasonable. A very nice stop if you are vising UNC or even Duke.

Stopped here after a recent UNC basketball game and got in right away but the place filled up quickly after that. Had a table right next to the big brew room windows so that was interesting. Ordered kettle cooked chips and homemade french onion dip for appetizer. Both very good. My wife and I both got the burger and it... More

On December 27, a basketball gameday, we arrived at 1:00 to have plenty of time for the 4:00 game. The restaurant had been closed for a few days during the holiday. Certainly they needed a cleaning crew in to clean the outdoor bar and patio restaurant area. It was just plain dirty. The service was terrible. It took about 1/2... More

Had lunch with family here this week. Had catfish sandwich and chicken "bratwurst". Both were good, would order again. Beer here is good, had the IPA (awesome) and the brown ale and cranapple wheat. We shared these beers, btw! This is a fairly large place with outdoors seating that is great for nice weather outdoors dining. I'll go here again,... More

The Top of The Hill has become a Chapel Hill standard. The food and the acoustics are always very good - even when the restaurant is crowded. Appropriate for a special night out or lunch. The wait staff is consistently excellent and the view and atmosphere are great. One of our family favorites.

EVERY VISIT to Chapel Hill takes us to the Top of the Hill for their shrimp and creamy grit cakes in a decadent mushroom, cashew cream sauce. In fact, had this dish twice during our last visit. Just the best I've ever had! And, as its a brewery as well there's a nice beer selection. Large space and always filled... More

We made reservations here after an UNC graduation this weekend. Upon entry, our tables were ready and were quickly seated. Our waitress was Anna….who…..well, how can I put it? She made THIS visit…….wonderful!!!! Our party was easily 20+ yet her attentiveness and responsiveness to our empty glasses, drink requests, or plate substitutions….one would've thought it was no more than 4... More

This is one of those spots that gets by on the basis of being a local fixture more than on the merits as a restaurant. Not to say that the quality is poor, rather that if it were in any place other than a college town, where tradition can take precedence over quality. The vibe is friendly and to be... More
