Great beer selection, OK food. Fun place to go.

If you feel like having a fun time, people watching and drinking some Micro-brewed beer, this is the place. Although the food isn't great, it's enough to help beer drinking, which this place is known for. They brew their own, and it's really very good.

Fun vibe, varied menu with something for everyone, and delicious food. Each of us got something totally different than the other, and we all loved our meals--even the pickiest eater in the family. We don't know the town and went on TripAdvisor reviews alone, and we made the perfect choice. UNC is right around the corner, so Top of the... More

I had great expectations from this little restaurant in Chapel Hill as many of my friends said it was great. It was a weekday and a little hectic. We sat on the balcony. I had a salad with goat cheese, pecans and chicken. It was ok but nothing special. My friend had a Mac and cheese chicken dish that looked... More

My husband and I were in town w our son looking UNC. We were early for dinner so we went here to get a drink before dinner. On a Monday night there was plenty of room at the bar. Unfortunately for us there were no openings along the outside overlooking town. We had very friendly bartenders.

We ate here before a performance at UNC, and the food was very good (I had the catfish, which was very tasty!) but the beer was fantastic...I had one of the house made stouts, and it was very impressive! Will be back soon!

Definitely treat yourself to a cocktail made with one of the housemade whiskeys. Delicious! And don't shy away from the outdoor seating. It was very pleasant. Food was good too -- really enjoyed the grilled thai salmon.

All of our party of 6 had the same impression: Beer: 5 Food: 2 Service: 4 (mostly efficient, but he mixed up our To-Go boxes, ugh) Atmosphere: 4 (loud inside, but fun on balcony, interesting decor) Skip the fried chicken, a certain disappointment for Southerners, and don't expect a Hot Bacon Spinach Salad to taste anything like it sounds, though... I arrived late and found that food was served until 2 AM. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The pizza and wings were done well and because of my experience I will return to try more items on the menu. The wine selection was also very good.

Top of the Hill (TOPO) is one of the few restaurant / microbreweries that does both aspects very well. This extremely popular brewpub is located on the top floor of the building at the corner of Franklin and Columbia Streets. Walking up to the hostess station, we see the huge crowds around the large central bar. After a very short... More

Top of the Hill is a great place to go before or after cultural or athletic events on the UNC campus. It is pretty much the closest restaurant to campus and when the weather is good, the outdoor terrace has great views of Franklin Street. The food is fine, ranging from better than average dinners to more ambitious main course... More
