A well-known and beloved restaurant in Carrboro famous for their shrimp and cheese grits which was delicious. Also had there the southern pork chop. Excellent bread. Only bad thing was the cornbread which was rock hard and not edible. Looked like it was reheated from earlier. Service friendly. Not inexpensive.

Crooks Corner is my all time favorite brunch. We arrived 20-30 min before they opened and there was already a line. Great coffee, atmosphere and coffee. They have a great outdoor space, however it was raining the day we visited. I want to go for dinner soon, but you can't do this without reservations, not even to sit at the... More

Put this restaurant at the top of your list of places to eat while in Chapel Hill. The Shrimp & Grits here are legendary. Trust me on this one.

Great but unpretentious food at a James Beard restaurant. The setting is pretty unpretentious also. The mint juleps were delicious. The fried oysters are the best I’ve had south of Connecticut—light and flaky. My first time, so the Carolina sampler was spot on—great pulled pork, tasty collards, and awesome hoppin’ John. Our dinner hostess swears by and loves the shrimp... More

Pork BarBQ and collards to die for. Everything was good. Service was great. We'll definitely return.

Went there after reading review in Southern Living. Ordered the Shrimp and Grits--it was too much going on. Overpowered by the onions and mushrooms and bacon. I make the same recipe from food.com and it is better and can make it for a 1/4 of the price. Menu quiet limited. Ambiance was great--we ate in the atrium portion. Nice night... More

Recommended by colleagues while attending a training session in Chapel Hill. Went for the pulled pork which was good. The sides were excellent including collard greens that I especially enjoyed. I had a local beer to top off the meal. Went on a Friday evening and just beat the larger crowd arriving by 6:30 pm. Service was attentive. I would... More

Great atmosphere, especially their outdoor patio. The shrimp and grits are to die for! We had a persimmon pudding that was blissfully good!

We went there after reading an article in a magazine. We were very disappointed. Portions were small, crab claws should have been labeled crab tips. The cheese plate was good and the service was great but it was overpriced. I don't mind paying more for excellent food but I hate paying more for average. We left hungry. With lots of... More

Read about this restaurant in Best of Chapel Hill, going to a playmakers production at UNC tonight so decided on an early bird dinner. We started with soups (it was chilly this evening) chicken creole and fresh corn and chestnut. For the main course, I chose pork shank with Mississippi fried corn and seared okra off the seasonal menu, my... More
