Felt like home - only better...

I moved away from the Carolina-Virginia area many years ago and don't get back as often as I'd like. This place brought back fond memories - and surpassed them. A great casual spot with a nice out door area including ceiling fans and a little waterfall. Very friendly service and great food (I... read more

The mecca for modern southern food, Crooks is famously known for its shrimp and grits. But if you are adventurous and try some of the seasonal mains, you can be richly rewarded. We ate there last night and I had the best meal of my life, even though the description of the dish sounded kind of odd. I ordered Onslow... More

We had a wonderful dinner at this excellent restaurant in Chapel Hill. Our party of four ordered the Caesar Salad, the Jalapeno and Cheddar Hush Puppies, the mixed green salad, and the tomato and watermelon salad to start. For the main course, we ordered the Carolina sampler, the catfish, and the shrimp and grits. For the root beer lovers, they... More

I have never had a bad meal here. The only place for shrimp and grits. Great service, great food, comfortable atmosphere.

Excellent little cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating. Had the shrimp and grits which was excellent! Definitely a must try if you are in Chapel Hill!

We had a great dinner on the patio at "The Pig" The food was spectacular and our server was one of the best we have had. The food was creative and outstanding. we had the fig and ham appetizer and the shrimp and grits. I have had shrimp and grits all over the South including Charleston, New Orleans and other... More

Crook's Corner is the home of the first Shrimp & Grits and if you have not eaten it here, you should order this first. Other favorites, when available, include Soft Shell Crab, Honeysuckle Sorbet (a short-term seasonal joy), a REAL Caesar Salad (I get one with fried oysters as my entrée), and their fried oysters. For drinks try the Jalapeno... More

I love this Chapel Hill classic. I like the collards and the shrimp and grits but everything is delicious. It is way past time for me to go back.

This is an eclectic place to eat while in the Raleigh-Durham area. You can get a fine sampling of Southern food while having great conversations with friends in this cool local hang-out. I recommend the shrimp and grits, something they're famous for! The only downside is the parking situation in this area of town. The street spaces are few and... More

Always the best breakfast in town. Indulge in their french fries - fresh cut and not greasy - the best in town. Great people watching. Enjoy a beverage on the patio and plan your next garden planting. Make reservations so you do not have to fight the crowds. Their Honeysuckle sorbet IS the best thing I have ever had in... More
