Ate there this morning with my grandchildren, after not having visited Ye Olde Waffle Shop in more than a year. Food fresh, and tasty. Served quickly and with a smile. Noticed these older, poor reviews, so I wanted to put in an update.

My husband and I ate here while visiting Chapel Hill. This is a "diner" - if you're expecting something more, you will be disappointed. That said, my mediterranean omelet was very good. The hash browns and waffle were just OK. The waitstaff was very friendly and we got our order taken and food out quickly.

I will never go back there. Last week I sat down with 2 friends, and we waited for another to join us. He arrived 5 minutes after we ordered. When he asked for a menu to order they refused to serve him. We explained that we just wanted to eat together, and there was no waiting line at the time,... More

I went to this establishment because of what I heard on the street. This place thrives on word of mouth, which I would consider "rumors" or "myths" from people who have heard it from others and never actually eaten at this establishment. Food was over priced and dried. I do not recommend to anyone unless they asked about this place.... More

Worst food EVER! I wouldn't eat it on someone elses dime! They dump jelly [under the guise of fresh fruit] on your over-cooked waffle and bring youa slice of deli meat and charge you $3 for a side of ham... ridiculous!

Here's a good thing...this place is an independent restaurant. Another good thing, it's right on Franklin Street so if you're visiting UNC-CH, it's convenient. But really, don't do it. Don't go. The charming name Ye Olde Waffle Shop will make you want to go, but really...it's not all that. The hashbrowns are dry and uninteresting. The pancakes are merely ok...nothing... More
