Because our church had used this place to cater our picnics, when my sister came to town, I thought I'd treat her to NC Barbecue. We were immediately turned off by the restaurant as it looked dirty and poorly cared for. But sometimes a hole in the wall has terrific food. Not so at Allen & Son... It took forever... More

Allen and Son Barbecue has the best barbecue in the Triangle, maybe the universe. A barbecue sandwich from Allen and Son is truly one of the most delicious foods on this planet: the meat is smoky and tender, the slaw crunchy, refreshing and slightly sweet and the vinegar-based barbecue sauce brings just the right touch of heat and acid. Heaven!... More

We had family in from out of town and wanted to make sure the restaurant would be open when we arrived. Even the day before they said they would be open. We arrived after driving from Raleigh and they were closed. We were very disappointed and annoyed! The food is usually good but we will be looking for another BBQ... More

I've been eating here since I was a student in the 70's, even when I moved west, but sadly will not go again. The barbeque is now way more expensive than it was just a few years ago and the quality is much worse. Yes, they still cook over wood, but the pound I got (at 50% more in price... More

We haven't had southern BBQ in years. So when we stopped in North Carolina to visit a friend we ask about a good BBQ joint. He said Allen & Sons has good BBQ, so we met him at the restaurant. We noticed some of the tables are so close together that they would be hard to take a seat at.... More

This is what NC barbecue is all about. The sandwich has thinly sliced pork with a vinegar based BBQ on a soft bun and topped with cole slaw. The fries are crispy, salty, and complement the sandwich. They have additional menu choices but their BBQ sandwich is the reason for making the journey.

If you enjoy delicious North Carolina Barbecue, Allen and Sons will not disappoint. We got takeout barbecue and coleslaw, and made several meals out of it. Just delicious!

If you don't like the east coast vinegar based bbq you probably won't like this. It is loaded with vinegar just the way we like it. The hush puppies were awesome but neither of us could eat the slaw because there was so much pepper in it. They had also over seasoned the fries and neither of us could eat... More

I had heard of Allen & Son's from some TV show and had it on my must stop list for North Carolina barbecue. I wasn't disappointed. Pork, slaw, hushpuppies & sweet tea, all of it was very good. They have a variety of sizes of meals and sides, so there is something for everyone. Oh, and if you like banana... More

Sit inside, outside or takeaway, the food at Allen and Son is delicious. Not being a beef or pork ester, I get the melt in your mouth chicken or crab sandwich and the hush puppies are to die for. No greasy after taste either. Quaint setting just off 15 501 S between Fearrington and Pittsboro, Allen and Son is a... More
