When you walk through the shadowed glass doors of Talulla's, an instant transformation begins to occur. Your mind and body begin to relax. Your ears pick up on the eclectic mix of music. Your eyes wonder around the walls, decorated in Turkish rugs; then the ceilings, scattered with warm, unique lighting pieces; then the floors... the dark, hardwood floors; and finally, across the plush seating areas, disguised by cushions and pillows and fabric leisurely draped around the frames.

Classic Turkish food without traveling overseas

We were quite impressed on this first visit here. The food is well prepared and quite tasty. The texture and flavors are authentic. This is as close to real Turkish food you'll get without travel overseas. The fish specials were excellent, with just the right flavor and texture. The sea bass was... read more

We decided to eat here for Easter after family plans changed unexpectedly and we are happy that this restaurant satisfied. We love ethnic food and thought this would be a good choice. After a nice greeting, we were seated and given information about the menu. The wait staff gave good information and guidance. After ordering, warm bread with muhammara sauce... More

I recently dined at Talullas after a long hiatus. When Talullas originally opened its doors it offered authentic Turkish food and did not make concessions to "American" taste. This changed when the restaurant was sold but it appears they have gone back to the original recipes. There is hardly another type of food that is more satisfying than Turkish or... More

The last few times we've been here we have been unable to finish the main courses because they are overly rich and oily. This is especially true of the vegetarian options. The mixed vegetarian mezze plate is, however, excellent.

Mmm! I've never had anything close to real Turkish food before and I can definitely say this first experience was great. Was here with two friends who confirmed the authenticity of the place and we stuffed ourselves so full we had to take home at least two or three takeout boxes. I really liked the ambience, the lighting and decor.... More

Great food, quiet and efficient service, reasonable price. All in all worth a second visit. Try the lamb and chicken kebabs!

We decided to treat ourselves to dinner out on Christmas and made a reservation through open Table. We arrived early in the evening and the restaurant was maybe 1/4 to 1/3 full. We were promptly seated, had the specials explained to us, and ordered our appetizer and entrees. They brought out wonderful warm bread with a red pepper sauce that... More

There's nothing that my family has ever disliked about Talullas. We go as often as we can. The service and food are great. The atmosphere, food, and friendliness reminds us so much of the Turkish food we loved when we were in Turkey.

The Chapel Hill - Durham area emerged some time ago from cuisine of the heavy southern style that may taste great but should be indulged only now and then if you want to live a long time. The region now offers a strong selection of really good places to eat, a few of which are truly exceptional. Talullas is a... More

This restaurant is really good. The flavors are amazing. Love the appetizers and soups. And desserts are delicious. I feel in Turkey every time I dine here.
