When you walk through the shadowed glass doors of Talulla's, an instant transformation begins to occur. Your mind and body begin to relax. Your ears pick up on the eclectic mix of music. Your eyes wonder around the walls, decorated in Turkish rugs; then the ceilings, scattered with warm, unique lighting pieces; then the floors... the dark, hardwood floors; and finally, across the plush seating areas, disguised by cushions and pillows and fabric leisurely draped around the frames.

I recently dined at Talullas after a long hiatus. When Talullas originally opened its doors it offered authentic Turkish food and did not make concessions to "American" taste. This changed when the restaurant was sold but it appears they have gone back to the original recipes. There is hardly another type of food that is more satisfying than Turkish or... More

The last few times we've been here we have been unable to finish the main courses because they are overly rich and oily. This is especially true of the vegetarian options. The mixed vegetarian mezze plate is, however, excellent.

Mmm! I've never had anything close to real Turkish food before and I can definitely say this first experience was great. Was here with two friends who confirmed the authenticity of the place and we stuffed ourselves so full we had to take home at least two or three takeout boxes. I really liked the ambience, the lighting and decor.... More

Great food, quiet and efficient service, reasonable price. All in all worth a second visit. Try the lamb and chicken kebabs!

We decided to treat ourselves to dinner out on Christmas and made a reservation through open Table. We arrived early in the evening and the restaurant was maybe 1/4 to 1/3 full. We were promptly seated, had the specials explained to us, and ordered our appetizer and entrees. They brought out wonderful warm bread with a red pepper sauce that... More

There's nothing that my family has ever disliked about Talullas. We go as often as we can. The service and food are great. The atmosphere, food, and friendliness reminds us so much of the Turkish food we loved when we were in Turkey.

The Chapel Hill - Durham area emerged some time ago from cuisine of the heavy southern style that may taste great but should be indulged only now and then if you want to live a long time. The region now offers a strong selection of really good places to eat, a few of which are truly exceptional. Talullas is a... More

This restaurant is really good. The flavors are amazing. Love the appetizers and soups. And desserts are delicious. I feel in Turkey every time I dine here.

There were four of us and we shared a number of delicious dishes. We sampled a variety of old and cold mezzes plus some hummus and a whole bream. The fish was lovely and flaky, but not quite as big as we thought it might be. Nonetheless, we had ordered plenty and really enjoyed tasting everything. Service was pleasant and... More

What a nice changeup to the usual dining on Franklin Street. Menu is always fresh, lively atmosphere and good service. It's fun to reserve the bay window tables.
