Great seafood place!

This is a great place for anything from a basic fried seafood platter to a wonderful horseradish encrusted tilapia! We have never had a bad meal in all the years we have eaten here. Be sure to order the Squid Rings!

The food at Squid's is nicely done seafood and the service is excellent. The hush puppies are my son's favorites and the squid rings are a great starter. As is typical in the South, the wine list is a bit on the small side (but a quick glance around the dining room confirms at least 50% of the patrons are... More

Hush puppies were really just sweet free-form globs of fried dough. No texture, no cornmeal, no spices, no onion. Cucumber cocktail: sickly sweet with ground up chunks of cucumber floating in it. The smallest Martini glass I've ever seen. Tasted--and looked--like someone had put alcohol, unpeeled cucumbers and sugar in a blender and hit "puree." No subtlety or complexity of... More

We went as a group of 8 on a Tuesday night and it was packed! Recommend calling for a reservation. Waited about an hour for a table. Service was excellent and most entrees were delicious. My scallop special entree was not particularly good but everyone else's food was great - especially the fish entrees off of the regular menu. Salads... More

My favorite restaurant in Chapel Hill. Seafood is done right. Oysters as you like them. Great hush puppies. Excellent service and friendly.

Have been to squid's many times. It is "locally popular." Not a gourmet restaurant but Very good seafood prepared in many styles - you choose. Not a long string of adjectives in front of the menu items, but I like that. Prices are reasonable - about $20/entree. Generally an older crowd - not popular with the hip younger folks. They... Hush puppies instead of bread and hot- delicious food. Sometimes the parking is a challenge and the bar packed before a game.

This is a nice place. And very popular based on the wait line on Sunday evening. They seem much more health conscious than most using fresh food and healthier oil. They certainly make an effort to offer an alternative to the usual food combinations. Not to discourage them, they seem to try to be different rather than creative. Sometimes it... More

Squid's is a casual, cheerful seafood restaurant with great service and a fun bar. The hushpuppies are served hot as you take your seat. Seafood is fresh and cooked however you like it. They have a few special small plates and an option for a single crab cake dinner that is incredibly reasonable. This is a go to place for... More

Loved the calamari appetizer! Fried Oysters were some of the best I have ever had. The parking lot was packed so we thought we were in for a long wait but we were able to be seated immediately. Thought the atmosphere would have been a little more upscale but the food was wonderful.
