Good Seafood

Not open for lunch, just for dining. Very nice restaurant. Good food and good selection of wines. The atmosphere is fun. They also have a great bar if you just want to have a drink. We liked the layout and the service was very good.

Despite the setting of a diner in a retirement home, no exaggeration, (I mean really, really think about updating the place), the food was a pleasant surprise. Great drinks and food was delightfulful. I thought the lobster bisque was some of the best I ever had.

Love seafood. Crave seafood. And although we've tried and tried again, we've just never had anything particularly special at Squids. I know it's always packed. I know people love it. But fried oysters in the fried oyster salad did not remind me of the ocean, swordfish with corn and black beans sounded enticing but the swordfish was overcooked and the... More

My wife and I had diner here this week and were nicely surprised. Ratings were always high but we just had not gotten around to going here. We arrived around 6:15 PM and the parking lot was almost full!! When we got our food we understood why the place was packed with customers. The food was excellent and the service... More

The food at Squid's is nicely done seafood and the service is excellent. The hush puppies are my son's favorites and the squid rings are a great starter. As is typical in the South, the wine list is a bit on the small side (but a quick glance around the dining room confirms at least 50% of the patrons are... More

Hush puppies were really just sweet free-form globs of fried dough. No texture, no cornmeal, no spices, no onion. Cucumber cocktail: sickly sweet with ground up chunks of cucumber floating in it. The smallest Martini glass I've ever seen. Tasted--and looked--like someone had put alcohol, unpeeled cucumbers and sugar in a blender and hit "puree." No subtlety or complexity of... More

This is a great place for anything from a basic fried seafood platter to a wonderful horseradish encrusted tilapia! We have never had a bad meal in all the years we have eaten here. Be sure to order the Squid Rings!

We went as a group of 8 on a Tuesday night and it was packed! Recommend calling for a reservation. Waited about an hour for a table. Service was excellent and most entrees were delicious. My scallop special entree was not particularly good but everyone else's food was great - especially the fish entrees off of the regular menu. Salads... More

My favorite restaurant in Chapel Hill. Seafood is done right. Oysters as you like them. Great hush puppies. Excellent service and friendly.

Have been to squid's many times. It is "locally popular." Not a gourmet restaurant but Very good seafood prepared in many styles - you choose. Not a long string of adjectives in front of the menu items, but I like that. Prices are reasonable - about $20/entree. Generally an older crowd - not popular with the hip younger folks. They...
