Very good seafood at moderately high prices

we found the seafood tasty, but size was small for prices a bit high. Environment was busy but service was fine. This is not the place for a quiet or leisurely dinner. They did have a kids menu.

Food is good, service is mostly good, prices are reasonable. Can get crowded, so get there early for dinner.

Every now and then one gets a hankering for fried oysters or a blackened mahi. The bar is our favorite seating spot because of the cheerful attentive staff and comfortable ambiance. All the menu items are consistently high quality and beautifully presented. The oysters are all star items no matter whether they are fried, raw or steamed. Give yourself a... More

We've been going to Squids for more than 10 years. Food is exceptionally good and the bar scene is the best. Always fun people, great wait staff, fast service, and consistently great food. I have my favorites (peel and eat shrimp with Old Bay and a caesar salad) and my husband has probably had everything on the menu! Great specials,... More

This is the "go-to" restaurant when it's one of those last minute "let's go out tonight" moments. Lots of seniors and families. It's fairly large which translates to immediate or quick seating. The food is not brilliant either in selection or presentation but it is high quality and well cooked. They use fresh ingredients, particularly the fish, and the moderately... More

Squids is a Chapel Hill institution that has been providing fresh seafood seemingly forever. It has a large loyal restaurant and bar following and eating and drinking outdoors in nice weather is extremely enjoyable. The menu is seafood-oriented but not limited. The hushpuppies are a special treat.

If you crave seafood the choices in the Chapel Hill Durham are limited. Since its opening Squids has been the go to place for Sea Food. The Oysters are always fresh sweet whether raw, steamed or fried. The Horseradish Crusted Tilapia in our view is one of the signature dishes. Mondays is Lobster night 25% off usual price. We probably... More

Since returning to the Research Triangle area, we've eaten at Squids twice. The seafood is fresh, and the preparations are not boring. Last time out, I had the trout with pecans and polenta, and my wife had a mixed dish with scallops. We shared buffalo shrimp and a calamari appetizer. I thought the trout was outstanding. My wife was a... More

Each time I have eaten here was with a large group. They handle groups well and service was good. The menu is broad enough to cover almost any taste. This restaurant has quite a long standing good reputation.

We have been coming to Squids for over 20 years and love it usually....In the past year, we've noted: food quality and portions vary for same meal on different visits???; The employees greeting diners at front desk are usually friendly and welcoming, but the manager (tall, shaved head guy) only occasionally will bless you with a hello, thanks for coming...
