Il Palio is an intimate restaurant located in the Siena Hotel. We strive to emulate the best of the great Italian tradition of hospitality and quality at the table and in the glass. Our vision is simple - use the best local and Italian ingredients as purely as possible and serve them with comfort and pride. We cook as an Italian might in North Carolina.

Top tier restaurant in Chapel Hill

This is a restaurant for a special occasion. The hotel is also very nice; the location requires a drive to downtown to the UNC campus

The food was superb for all the courses. Imaginatively presented with fine portion sizes and delicious. This is a high end restaurant tied in with a classic hotel. A memorable place to stay and eat while visiting Chapel Hill and UNC.

Where do I start? I was staying in the hotel and only chose this because of the positive ratings. I guess my visit was an outlier, but I can honestly say, the service was abysmal. I was seated in a nearly empty restaurant (with a reservation), outside table, and waited over 20minutes before being recognized--yes, recognized by the waiter who... More

The amount of food was not sufficient for a group 50 people. Breakfast collection is too small. No varieties almost.

Three nights in row and were looking at going back for a forth. It did help that we were guest in the hotel but there are many other places to eat in chapel hill. The food is great especially the appetizer truffle Parmesan fries. Everything is made fresh and prepared in the northern Italy style. Great red sauce and a... More

We had not been to Il Palio for a while but decided to try it for a birthday dinner. We expected very good - we got excellent. The service was attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. When we expressed regret that they did not have the Osso Bucco on the menu that night, the waiter went off and found that... More

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro area (and maybe even the Triangle) has long suffered from the lack of a quality Italian restaurant. Il Palio goes a long way toward remedying that problem. Il Palio, located in the Siena Hotel, is as Italian as we've found in the area and it is quite good. The food is creative and very good, with a... More

I have eaten at many restaurants claiming to be "gluten-free"-- but this was superb. The waiter went over the menu with me, and helped me select what would work for my gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, raw-free medical diet. This chef is superb. I was served a meal that combined various ingredients into a dish that I could eat and enjoy. What... More

This is in the Siena Hotel... Parking is easy. Venue is small, probably 50 people max, so quiet enough to converse. We had a business dinner. calamari was split for appetizers, sea bass, veal and pork ravioli, and the potato gnocchi were our choices... All very good as was the risotto as a side. Very attentive staff and good wine... More

If you want to be treated like royalty and you like excellent food, this is the place to be. Il Palio is the most romantic restaurant you will find. We go here for every special occasion. I love the food and the service.....but most of all I love how the staff treats every guest as the most important person in... More
