Good but expensive

$12 or more for a salad at lunch?? But the grilled cheese was great! When the weather is nice, sit outside for a great experience.

After reading some of the reviews here, I didn't know what to expect. I am HAPPY to say that dinner was EXCELLENT and we would go back again! Top dishes were the pasta with lobster, pasta with bolognese, the filet (with tasty mushrooms!), the chocolate gelato was heavenly and the bambolinas were so good that I ordered the next morning... Durham has a very fine casual Italian restaurant which we go to when we don't mind a long drive. If we want elegant surrounding, fine service and superb Italian food, we go to Il Palio. Pastas of any type of a favorite. Dessert offers conventional and new flavors. The Sienna also hosts fine wine dinners. Since its opening Il Palio... More

We had a wonderful salad each...very tasty and not just lettuce or too overloaded either. We split a calamari appetizer which was wonderful ! We found that each bite had a different but wonderful flavor. My husband had the osso bucco , which he found very good but would have liked a little bit bigger portion. I had the fish... More

Although only minutes from our home in Chapel Hill, we had never eaten there until April 16th, 2015. Both my husband and I were terribly disappointed. I began with a tasteless soup, my ravioli dish was extremely dry with a wilted deep fried artichoke leaf as decoration, and my husband's Pasta dish tasteless. Also the ambiance of the place is... Il Palio stacks up favorably alongside other upper tier brunch spots in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. It was very elegant, with great table service (non-buffet style), and the cuisine was top notch. I'd give Il Palio the nod to anyone looking for a high-end brunch experience in the Triangle. Parking is convenient, as it's located in the Sienna Hotel. Recommended.

We dined here before while traveling & really liked (& still do!) the Siena Hotel itself. However this time Il Palio was such a disappointment. Limited menu choices, delayed service in welcome & taking order. One Entree was served barely warm (fish dish was not appealing when served lukewarm). Request for other fish entree to be de-boned was refused (waitress... More

There is nothing bad to write about this great restaurant in the Siena hotel. Do not be dissuaded by the fact that it is a hotel restaurant, as it does not carry any bad connotations for this restaurant. The Italian food was superbly presented and delicious. Plenty of choices and some offerings can be ordered in the small plate size.... More

We visited Siena several years ago and came with no expectation that this restaurant would bring back such wonderful memories of our trip to Italy. The menu was filled with interesting choices. I mentioned that I saw they served scrambled eggs with truffles for their Sunday brunch and the chef happily made them for me on a Friday night. The... More

This is a restaurant for a special occasion. The hotel is also very nice; the location requires a drive to downtown to the UNC campus
