We signed up with another couple for the summer Tomato Dinner and had the four courses with wine pairings. Everything was delicious.

La Residence is a local institution for gourmet eating in the Durham-Chapel Hill area, one of the descendant restaurants of the legendary staff of Fearrington and Edna Lewis. We had an early evening lunch on a Groupon ticket and were delighted with the quality of the meal, the expert pairings of wine, and the service. The only downside is the... More

I got a groupon for a meal valued at $150 at La Rez. Though the meal was good La rez should be ashamed of itself for this groupon scam. If we had ordered off of the regular menu this meal for 2 would have cost under $100. Way overpriced- groupon way overvalued

Everything about our first visit to this restaurant was just perfect! We had reservations for 7pm on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately and water was on the table before I could blink an eye. We were brought fresh baguette and olive oil with balsamic. The menu was small enough that it wasn't overwhelming yet had something for just... More

This was a Friday night visit with a Groupon offering a 4 course meal for 2 with a tomato theme. Whilst the service, cocktails and salad were excellent the other courses were not to my taste. There was a very rich soup loaded with heavy cream. I could only take a few spoonfuls of it. Curried scallops were served on... More

This is the late night spot to hit up in Chapel Hill. Everybody that goes there will tell you how awesome this place is. Don't let the frat all-stars scare you off. This place is always packed and always has the best crowds.

We were in Chapel Hill for New Years Eve and had dinner at La Rez. The 3 course $50 prix fixe was a good value compared to other restaurants in the area that were doing prix fixe however at all including La Rez you probably end up spending more than when dining and ordering off the regular menu. The wine... More

Always a great place to dine on any ocassion. We ventured out on a rainy, bleak evening and had a wonderful meal at a table by the fireplace. This restaurant has been a favorite place since it opened in the 70's

Noone seems to know what they are doing - the restaurant is not very pretty - our waiter was not very good - and worst of all the food was a Big Disappointment - none of us would go back. It was family that dined but we are all adults.

My son's birthday was coming up. He is in that big meat and potato phase of life. Since it was a big milestone birthday, we wanted a special place. The other requirement was beef - maybe Beef Wellington, like Dad makes?....well. First, it was the best beef wellington - ever...marinated using the Sous Vide method and prepared with St. Andre...
